Beckett 4 R first 2 innings. Beckett and Lester both seem to have a problem. Is it the same problem?

Maybe it's time to trade both of them. The game is 50% mental.

While I have a great deal of empathy for a baseball team that is always playing from behind (my last organized baseball team had no pitching so I sort of relate) there is still no excuse for not being willing to take what the pitcher gives you at the plate and insisting on trying to do what you want to do whether it is possible or not. This IS the genesis of their problem with junk ballers.

I'm sorry. I don't care how many runs you give up. A pitcher who throws his fastball 86 mph should not be shutting down this offense. That's a complete cop out for this offense.

I'm not saying it doesn't have an effect on them and put a damper on them, but they should still be able to produce. Definitely should not be getting shut out. They should have scored 4-5 runs by now. This guy is a complete f***ing bum.

The Sox are pathetic against pitchers like this. Jurrjens, Laffey, Vargas, Garcia, Quintana, McCarthy, I mean the list goes on. Any pitcher who can't throw 90 shits all over this team. It's absolutely pathetic.

Some of the best pitchers down through the years were junk ball pitchers. I is about pitching not throwing.

Some of the best pitchers in history are junkballers but the Sox can't hit ANY junk baller. Look at the record this season. I have watched every game and every junk baller has laid them out.

It's pathetic that our ace gave up 4 runs in the first two innings to a last place team without 3 of its top 3 hitters. He should have been able to shut them down and win a low scoring game if the offense has an off night.

You are correct. The reason IMO is because the Red Sox don't adjust. Plus this team seems more impatient than prior teams.

This is actually the second time Laffey has embarrassed the Sox. He went 6 complete shut out innings last time and has just turned in 6 more. So he had shut out the Sox for 12 innings! Laffey for crying out loud.

I really think this team needs to decide what it wants to do. I'm sorry and I know nobody wants to hear this but this is not a baseball team. I know that is terse and probably requires some explanation but there is much more to being a baseball team than cheering and ripping shirts at home plate over a regular season win.

If you look Elk they are still one of the more patient teams in baseball. I know it does not look like it at times but believe it or not, it is true. THEY DO NOT ADJUST. That is what I have been trying to explain and I apologize for my tendency to try to explain but I sort of think that is one of the fun things about this site.

Says the guy who goes off of 539 PA and dismisses 5' date='395 PA.....[/quote']

Let's just dismiss his latest full season . his crapping out in a big market is a little worrisome, blaming it on where you hit in the lineup is even worse.

The main problem with this team is the same problem that this team had last September. It begins with Beckett. This team won't improve so long as he is with this club. It isn't only Beckett but he is the "Thyphoid Mary" of this team IMO

and when crawford starts to slide he'll have a new excuse' date=' "Oh the trade rumors messed me up"[/quote']

So, now not only are you telling him to GTFO because of 1 bad season AND telling me that I'm the one using a small sample size, you're also projecting him to slide down below career numbers??

Wow. But I'm the idiot here. Hm.

Such a shame that he has sucked so bad in the 2 slot.

That what I said. They haven't been patient when they need to be, like tonight

I just saw that darned home plate play for the first time. I was still in the car and heard it on the radio live. No excuse for missing the call but I wonder if the ump saw the runners hand cut across the white line around the batters box and thought it was the white of the plate he was catching with his fingers. That is all I can take from that as in slow mo it is clear that the runner does catch the white of the batters box with his fingers.

In the game last night, Ross saved them with the HR. But I remember the first inning when they made 3 outs on 6 pitches. I was not happy about that. They are just hitting away individually and not as a team.

That hasn't changed much since last year. No thought of taking pitches and getting on base.

An entire season after you get paid $142 mil is a fine sample size. We've season plenty of players who couldn't handle this market and fell flat on their face.

I appreciate the explaining.

I enjoy an intelligent point of view.

Laughable if you think you have a point after 539 PA against 5,395 PA.
