The EEI talking heads, especially the midday guys that talk baseball the most are on about "having to give Papi what he wants". I am so sick of the have to give them what they want ********. You have to trade Youk cause "that is what he wants". Never mind what you get back for him, you have to do it. You have to give Papi what he wants...never mind that as long as the Sox are willing to pay him in arbitration for 1 year deals, the Sox basically have him over a barrel, you have to give him what he wants.

This for a bunch of guys that had the same sort of easy schedule run early in the season that the Yanks had and did nothing with it. I don't want to hear about the injuries either cause they were basically playing a AAA team about every other week and in some cases every week.

So now everybody wants to be hopeful because we can make up ground playing our competition directly.....we will how much we like that in the next few weeks.

You hear this pro-Papi crap in the media. It's sounds pretty nonsensical--sticking up for a guy who is saying I'm more important than the team. The guy made his bed when he accepted arbitration. Plus nobody wanted him pre-season.

Nobody out there is going to give a 36 yo DH a multi year contract.

Papi has been "designated" to bring out some bottled water to the AL hitters in the home run derby....you gotta' be s***ing me right. If I were Papi that would be embarrassing and an insult....one of the best hitters in recent history relegated to glorified water boy.

I know the whole thing is just a show anyway but none of these guys seem that bright. Sabathia and Granderson looking for some air time just went out to the mound to talk to Cano's dad the guy pitching in to Cano. If I were his dad I would have nailed both of them right between the eyes with a fastball and sent them back to their seats. Sabathia must have known this was a mistake and shook Mr. Cano's hand like "oh s*** this was a mistake wasn't it", Sorry Mr. Cano...we are young and stupid.

 Papi chose to play that role in the HR derby.

No-one designated him to do anything - He volunteered to be a cheerleader so that he didn't risk partaking in the derby and not having as good of a 2nd half to the season as the first.

Smart move, really. He said he noticed that last year, the derby caught up with him afterwards and that he is getting older and needs to sit this one out and let the young guys hit/partake etc.

Thanks for the clarification...designated was how it was characterized initially and then when I saw Granderson and Sabathia go out to "talk" to Cano's dad on the mound I thought "oh brother, this thing really is a fiasco."
