Well, just because one pitcher did it does not mean all of their pitchers do it. From what I have read, the reason the Nats knew that is because Peralta used to pitch for the Nats. They were aware of it then and that is why they challenged it last night. There is a rule that states that hitters are allowed to use pine tar for bats, but pitchers are not allowed to. The pine tar does allow them to have a better grip on the ball, but I still do not thing that is as a big of a factor as this article is making it sound like. Rules are rules, that is why I understand the ejection. Let's just hope this is a lesson learned for the Rays and they do not do this. Hopefully Peralta was the only one.

"Insider trading, man. It's bush," Maddon said. "It's bogus. That's way too easy, right there."

I thought his reaction was over the top. He also said it was a "pussy move." How is it a pussy move? Like you said, it is against the rules. More power to the Nats for checking and getting Peralta ejected. It is all fair game. Don't play the game against the rules and go out there and call another team cowardly. I used to respect Maddon, but after this I lost a lot of respect for the *******.

Well somebody got the whole picture. {He did it with us, we knew it and let him....Now that he is gone, we will squeal on him } Hence, the "insider trader" comment from Maddon.

Also Johnson could have gone to either Maddon or Peralta before the game and warned them not to use pine tar during the series. You say, "We’re not going to call you out on this, but make sure you don’t have pine tar on your glove. We can’t let you do it, knowing you’re doing this."

God' date=' I f***ing hate Maddon. Hopefully the media stop ballwashing him and buying his koolaide.[/quote']He's a jackass that has been believing his own press clippings. He is just as big a jackass as any other manager.

Apparently they're sending the Peralta pine tar sample to NY for lab analysis...Remy was having a good yuk about this last night.

Davey Johnson on Joe Maddon: “I don’t know him that well, but I thought he was a weird wuss”

Aaron Gleeman

Jun 20, 2012, 4:49 PM EDT

Joe Maddon had all kinds of harsh words for Davey Johnson and the Nationals after the Joel Peralta glove/pine tar incident last night, and today Johnson fired back at the Rays manager.

When asked about Maddon’s contention that many pitchers have pine tar on their gloves, Johnson replied: “My only comment to them is just read the rule book.”

And then when asked what he thought of Maddon and his comments that the Nationals were “cowardly” and pulled “a chickens*** move” by calling the umpires’ attention to Peralta’s glove, Johnson told Mark Zuckerman of CSNWashington.com: “I don’t know him that well, but I thought he was a weird wuss anyways.”
