Not really. He had the hammy issue. His defense is poor. They like DMac for some reason.

Pods was replaced by Kalish imo.

I have to admit that the way Pods pulled up it did look like less than a 15 day stint would leave him where he would be pulling up like that again. Maybe 15 days puts Pods back in shape again.

I have said before that I think d-mac must be the luckiest guy on the planet cause he is always there when somebody else is getting hurt. Once Pods is ready again, presuming that there is not some other player ready for the DL, I wonder if d-mac finally has his stint on the DL.

Here's hoping they start this series right. With Atlanta coming up right after this series the Sox will hopefully win 2 of the 3 games.

It's been storming all day here :( I'm guessing the power won't stay on for much longer. Hopefully it stops storming by the time the game

Is on.

DMac's days with this club are numbered. Crawford will be back in a few weeks, followed in another few weeks by Ellsbury, hopefully. Time for DMac to dust off his resume.

Yeah, I thought it was strange that Pods hit into a DP last game--he must have a leg issue.

The guy looks in great shape for 36.

If DMac sticks, it will be sign that the FO needs some changes.

Man, that's a great shot of Fenway. Is that a 24mm lens? Fisheye? Ah, those fisheyes are phenominal.

Fenway no doubt is the greatest ML park. I sat in those bleachers 60 years ago for 50 cents.

You see that light tower in left center? 2nd one from the left? I saw Mantle hit one halfway up that tower in '57, batting RHd. Longest HR I ever saw over the Monster.

So the Sox are at home with the DH and still stick AGons in RF so they can get Youk in the lineup!!! STUPID.

I don't wish injury on any player but the Sox are so playing with fire here, in one of the toughest RF in baseball to play. You would think they would have looked at AGons having gotten pretty close to an injury recently playing out there and decided that enough was enough. But oh no....not the Red Sox.

Lets just push this a bit farther. As if a base hit here or there is going to change anything regarding Youk's trade value. At this point the Sox will just have to go with....Youk needs a change of scenery. Youk is not going on some major run and anything less than that is just not going to change 0 for 18 and 4 for 34.

Actually, I think Ells is returning before CC. I think Ells maybe has two to three weeks until we see him. I think Crawford has anywhere between four to six weeks until he returns. Either way, D-Mac will hopefully be gone when they both return since we will have Sweeney, Ells, CC, Ross, and Kalish. Pods time here might also end if all 5 of the OF's are healthy at the same time.

Where are you coming up with these numbers??

Valentine just said that Crawford is going on a rehab next week, if not sooner. That would have him back before the ASB.

I agree, it is very stupid, but at the same time, Youk will be dealt before July 1. I'd be shocked if he made it through the homestand honestly.

I was not aware that Valentine said that. The last report that I saw was a couple of weeks ago and it said CC was expected to return in mid to late July and that Ells was expected to return in early to mid July. I guess they have changed and Crawford has made more progress since the last update on redsox.com. That is a good thing. If that is the case, then both are probably looking at a return by early July, maybe sooner for Crawford.

* Carl Crawford, who continued throwing Tuesday, reported that he hoped to begin seeing game action soon. "Everything feels like it's coming along fine,'' he said. "I feel like every day that goes by, it's getting better. So right now it's just a day-to-day thing and right now things are looking good. At some point, I'll get out of here and go down to Fort Myers and start playing games, get on the fast track, and try to get back up here so I can get back in the lineup. I'm looking forward to it, because it's been a while since I played, but it'd be nice to get back in the lineup, try to get in a groove and help this team out as much as possible.''

Said Valentine of Crawford's expected return to game activity: "He's close. I would expect next week, if not sooner.''

* Jacoby Ellsbury took early batting practice, then practiced running to first and worked on his takeoff moves to second. "I saw him [Monday], he swung real well, swung about 20 times [Monday] and did both live work and tee work today,'' Valentine said. "He feels good and that's very encouraging.'' Asked how close Ellsbury was to taking the next step, Valentine said, "He's close to game activities. I don't mean tomorrow, but it's close. He's made great, steady progress.''

I so wish that Pods had stayed healthy as we got Ross back so that it could have been Pods that stayed and d-mac on the DL or wherever.

Pods is the only guy that they have had that has lead off the way a lead off hitter leads off and that seems to me to have provided a good jumping off spot for playing the kind of baseball the Sox have been forced to play lately.

If Ross had come up for d-mac going the other way we would have gotten a RH bat for a RH bat and we would have gotten a deep threat for what is basically a no threat. Would have been pretty neat to still have Pods at the top of the order with Ross down there in HR territory from the right side.

Looks like you found the quote from earlier today that I was talking about.

I think they're being ultra conservative with Crawford though. He should have been in games a week ago IMO.

Right down broadway dude.

That was a "Just don't walk him. Make him hurt me" pitch. And he did.

Oh well. Buch will settle down, not worried. And we'll get to Buehrle in this park.
