Roger Clemens was found not guilty on all counts Monday afternoon in the conclusion of a perjury case that stretched almost two years.

Clemens was indicted in 2010 on six counts of perjury, giving false statements and obstructing Congress. Clemens was indicted after he told Congress in 2008 that he never used performance-enhancing drugs. Clemens' former personal trainer, Brian McNamee, testified he had provided Clemens with steroids.

This was the second time Clemens stood trial. A judge declared a mistrial last summer after a prosecutorial error.

This trial was dumb to begin with. The steroid witchhunt needs to be put down. The steroid era put a black mark on baseball, and it is the system's fault, not the player's fault.

The verdict didn't surprise me at all, they're whole case was pretty much solely based on McNamee's testimony and Clemen's lawyers ripped his credibility apart. There were multiple smoking gun's that weren't allowed to be mentioned in the courtroom.

The whole thing never should have even happened.

What a joke, and what a waste of time and money.

He lied and everyone knew it.....his baseball career and achievements were already ruined before the trial. You know he was going to be found innocent....such a waste.

What happened is the trainer's wife undercut his testimony. Plus Pettite changed his story.

That's all it takes. You pay a clever defense lawyer, and he can introduce just enough doubt--in one way or another.

Cafardo says no doubt Clemens used steroids starting in Toronto--which turned his career around.

But he still deserves to be in the HOF, of which I disagree.

I doubt any of these guys who have gotten off with clever lawyers will get into the HOF: Clemens, Bonds,

Mac, Sosa. There aren't enough votes for them. The sportswriters know the score.

If they do, Bonds will be the one to break the ice. If they hold the line on Bonds, none of them get in. If they get in, will there be any mention of steroids on the plaques? What can they say? Most of them are suspected with good reason, but few have been busted under the drug policy.

If they do that what happen's when the day a "clean" player is on his death bed and admit's to having used steroids during his career? Steroid usage has been around in MLB since the late 80's.

What a f***ing waste of money. Never should have happened to begin with, either. Just proves how useless our government is, pissing away money on stupid crap like this.
