I actually feel good about today. I feel like Dice-K will get us the win. Let VA make the next gamethread.

Pumpsie and Reck should have their own for the rest of the year. Members enter at their own risk. Just a though, I'm just saying.

We could use it as a punishment.

Wow.

Can you really be surprised at this point?

I agree.

Can we make a "Reactionary Game Thread" as well as the regular game thread?

I'll admit, I will visit the reactionary game thread occasionally, but only at the beginning of the season. I've since cooled off.

Anyway, Sox win today. I'm not sure why everyone is so worried about Gio. He has never had any success against the Sox (28 IP, career 5.79 ERA), and not at Fenway (16 IP, 5.63 ERA).

He sucked against the Sox last year, too, 11.2 IP, 6.17 ERA.

I think the Sox win today, and Lester shows up tomorrow. Win the series.

Thanks! Will make it after the line ups are posted. :)

I don't ever want my teams to lose, but this happened to my footy team too. I got to the point where a loss become acceptable because you felt at it may make the decision makers address the problems.

To use a cricket phrase, the Red Sox pitchers are 'throwing pies' and that has been a problem for a while now. Even last season it was but we had the firepower to get us out of I as well as JP to shut up shop when needed. But the September slump should have been a warning sign. Top level management took the fall, but the on field issues weren't fully addressed.

I would rather we have a team that dominates too. One that plays .600 ball or better. Well, we don't. I ALWAYS want what I think is best for my team. Usually thats winning baseball games, but sometimes, its LOSING baseball games to force the hand of the management into making the changes necessary to win even more games in the future. Losing games forced the firing of Francona and Epstein last year, steps in the right direction. It could end up that losing games at the end of this year is best for the long term health of the franchise as well. Only short sighted individuals cannot delay gratification for future higher rewards. Thats not just about baseball, its about life as well. There are valid differences of opinion about what form that delayed gratification should take and when it is necessary. IMO last year we lost games just in time. We made a good start; now we have to finish the job of cleaning house.

Congratulations on your graduation. Big step.

But thanks but no thanks to the offer. There is only one game thread per forum rules.

Yesterday, I mean it sucked that we lost, but I think Gonzo is really coming out of his slump.

He should have had 2 bombs yesterday and a double. He cleaned out 98 and up and in. We have NOT seen that at all this year. Not at all. The fact that he was able to put that into the bullpens if not for Nady, that's a huge step in the right direction. Then he took a LHP deep to CF.

The loss sucked, but if I had to choose between losing yesterday and having Gonzo start to break out of his slump, or winning yesterday and watching Gonzo continue to struggle, give me the former. We will win a hell of a lot more games with Gonzo ripping than with him slumping.

Get ready fellas. He's about to carry this team.

It is not an issue of Gio being worrisome as much as he might provide something of a test for guys batting from the left side. Agons always kills Matuzs for example so he really was not much of a test...did not even pitch Agons the way LH pitchers try to pitch him and then could not find home plate regardless of which side batter he faced.

Ortiz has been struggling a bit lately...swinging at some pitches he just should not swing at any time and yesterday was just overmatched by that FB. So depending on how Gio throws today, he might be an interesting test for guys like Agons and Ortiz.

Much like other pitchers though if Gio just plain sucks today then he won't provide much of a test for anybody.

Didn't you throw a tantrum sometime back and told everyone to f*** off and were gonna leave this board for good? Whatever happened to that? rofl

And hey VA Sox fan, I'm not rootimg for my team to lose, but I do want some changes and if losing is the only way the FO will make them so be it.

It is pretty clear at this point that the heads at Boston dont want to make any because somehow they think they can get out of this massive hole. :dunno:
