They were raving about him the other night when he hit his 4th HR Pumps, saying that he turned it around and we are stupid for thinking he has sucked this season.

So are we going to see the good Buchholz....or the evil Buchholz tonite?

We need to win at least two games in Toronto. Just winning series is the goal.

I must have missed that. He has sucked this season and thats a fact.

Two on, no one out.

Runs are on the way. Two errors. Sloppy baseball.

Watch for the Deer in the Headlights on the part of Buchholz.

Gonzo K's.

What a surprise.

His K rate isn't really out of whack with his career norms. 19.6% vs 18% I wouldn't consider that outside of normal variation. It's just more noticeable because he's not hitting home runs anywhere near as often. 16.5% career vs 6.5% on the season.

Its his BA and OPS that are the most concerning. I would settle for .300 with lots of doubles too as long as some of them drive in runs. Also, he looks silly at the plate sometimes, swinging at balls in the dirt and does not look like he is having intelligent ABs, swinging at too many first pitches. Its not been a good year for him. He is going to really have to rake for four months to approach career norms now.

His FB% is up around where it was in 2008-2010, when he averaged about 36 HR/season. His LD% is also up at 22.4% (highest of his career).

He's getting hosed by HR/FB. His HR/FB is usually anywhere from 16.5% to 20.5%. This year, it's 6.5%. That's unfathomably low for a guy like Gonzo.

If he has a June like he did last year, he'll be most back on track. (1.185 OPS)
