OK. I admit it. Lester had a much better outing tonight, especially after his team gave him the lead. Lets hope he can keep this up. We really need that from him.

Nope. He's labored through 6. Let him sit down with a quality start (most useless stat in baseball) and hand it to the pen.

Winning / Losing pitcher?

Berry broke his leg with his bat.

That was to funny. Probably took all the strength he had not to limp to the dugout.

At least W/L measures an outcome of some kind. A quality start is just an arbitrary number of innings and an arbitrary number of earned runs that supposedly mean a start was good. But yes, wins and losses are pretty useless, as is the save.

Lots of stats really don't mean much.

Well that has been waiting to happen for a few games now and bookends the throwing mistake of a few nights ago.

Not to say that play in right is Agons fault. V has been living dangerously with that. V is just lucky that he did not get the trifecta with that play...Agons does not make the play...the run scores...Agons hurt!

Lester ends up allowing four earned runs in less than 7 innings. Better' date=' but not good enough.[/quote']

1 of them was an absolute cheapie (the last one), and Aviles should have never let that ball get through in the 1st.

Lester threw better than his line.

It was the space aliens I tell you.

Now come on. A cue shot and a flub that would have been caught by anyone not named Gonzalez? It was pretty cheap.

7 K's, 0 BB, .476 BABIP. He wasn't exactly getting lucky.

Still you cannot call that performance better than OK and it is certainly below average for what you would expect from your Ace. We are calling for Beckett to be the #1 mainly because he is throwing somewhat better than Lester but Beckett would not be up to expectations for a 1 on a contending team either.

Aces find a way. He did not. No excuses. His whole season thus far has been a string of excuses. He has basically sucked to this point of the season. No space aliens.
