7 first basemen OPSed at .900 or above in 2011, 5 in 2010 and 13 in 2009. He ain't worth $22 million/year.

What was Ortiz worth when he was OPSing at more than 1.000 for three years in a row. That's just sick.

I think he was worth what he is being paid last year. This year, obviously not. He is going to have to really rake for the last four months to earn that much. Not sure he can do it.

I wonder how WMB would have thrown that from that deep behind 3rd. I don't think we have seen him try to make a throw like that yet and you get the feeling that side arm thing he does would not fly from there.

Paul Konerko is 36 and Agon's career averages are better

The differential is not worth the money. So, he is 36? What does that matter? he's hitting the crap out of the ball, and he is only under contract for another year. He's a great value.

Any updates on Pedroia?

I think someone posted that he was day to day.

And Aaron Boone just did a Boston accent. Where is Mr. Blonde when you need him?

Teixeira's deal set the bar for Gonzo. He took a little less than Teixeira. I think when Gonzo signed that deal most Sox fans were satisfied that it was a fair deal.

And texeira hasn't exactly been amazing since going to new York.

Game over in Toronto. Orioles lose.

If we can hold on to this lead we are behind by just three games.

Pretty impressive with all things considered.

Teixeira always ends up with solid HR/RBI numbers, but he's incredibly streaky. If we had signed him he would have caught his share of abuse here, that's for sure.

His OPS over 4 years in NY is .872; thats not too shabby.

I was always under the impression that'd he been a bit of a disappointment. Yankees fans make it seem so.

We also thought that he would be hitting 35+ HRs for us. The comparison to Tex is irrelevant as he has also been a disappointment since the first year of his contract. Two wrongs don't make a right.

My comparison there is mainly on whether Gonzo's contract, when he signed it, was fair or not.
