Fractured navicular. Probably an 8 week injury assuming the bone doesnt shift. If it does' date=' he will need surgery and be out for the yr.[/quote']

Given the injury record playing the outfield for the Boston Red Sox qualifies as hazardous duty

A fracture is a fracture, nothing you can do about that but for half the other bums on this team that have been hitting the DL from the end of spring training till fall for the last few years..WTF? Is it bad conditioning? It almost seems like the Sox show up for ST but don't actually begin ST until the season starts.

CC and Ells were conditioning issues?

Isn't it about time Crawford got back to work? Put a band aid on his arm and get him out there.

The management treats these guys like a bunch of pussies.

They need to make an acquisition. There is too long a period of time before Ells or CC come back. We can't make do with Byrd, Sweeney, Lin and Nava. That is just horrible.

No, not really.

Aviles I'd have to think. He has some experience there and he's actually a credible threat offensively. Call up Iglesias to play short and move Aviles to right.

They may be able to get Carlos Lee if they want to man up and pay some salary (he makes $18.5mm this year). Or they could give a better prospect and make the Astros eat some salary.

Coco Crisp is also likely available right now. That actually could work.

Considering this cast of characters, I'd take a long look at Coco The power fiends on this forum will laugh you down though. No one who can't hit a homer is a baseball player after all.

Lee is hitting pretty well right now.

Coco hated playing here. Can he veto a trade?

Yup.

Crisp could fill the void as the leadoff hitter, though. He's a massive pest with good speed who can work a count and get on base at a decent clip.

Then you can move Aviles down to the 8th slot where he can strengthen the bottom of the order.

I think of Crisp in more of the McDonald role. He had some righthanded power off the bench last I looked, and the switch hitting and speed are interesting. I don't think he's able to play fulltime anymore.
