Seriously, I thought Valentine was supposed to be the great tactical guy. That inning would tend to disprove it.

 

What possible reason could he have had for not making the switch there. OK so you lose something defensively going into the later innings but you can't let an opportunity to score more runs go by when you are not yet ahead by more than 4 because you are worried about defense later...you just can't. I can maybe see it if you are up by 5 or more but not there.

 

Now he is going get burned for it and I am not even sure he will learn from it. We will just end up with another of his "yea that was a mistake" press conferences.
