He's got great doubles power. He can really use the monster to his advantage. I'm glad we picked him up.

Sox are playing very good baseball right now. It's a perfect storm of playing well and ease of schedule. Keep rolling!!

Stop your back-patting brah. Several others saw Sweeney's potential for improvement and mentioned his OBP skills the moment the Sox got him. Some of us even got mocked for saying the guy could be good. Some of the posters doing the mocking are now riding in the bandwagon.

Lol I don't believe most peoples BS about Sweeney. I don't think Station was one of them though. It's funny how when he came to Boston everyone thought he was a piece of s*** that was thrown in the deal with Bailey. They know who they are. Sweeney will eventually come to earth. Just like Jed Lowrie did. Talksox will be calling for his head.

The #1 issue a lot of people have over Sweeney is his non existing power for a corner outfielder. Every ChiSox and A's fans I read use that against him. But looking beyond that is a fundamental player. His last couple of years he had injuries problems and his defense took a hit. But he's a career .300 hitter against RHP and he gets bench once every 5th game. Sweeney is an excellent fit for Fenway. Can hit the ball the other way and his legs are back where they were before. Good base runner and defender. Just stop thinking he's going to hit for power.

I don't remember commenting on Sweeney when we got him. I was very happy with the Ross deal. That does not prevent me from suggesting that both will in my view come down to earth at some point.

 

It does not seem to me that Sweeney goes to left enough to see much of a Fenway boost and eventually AL pitchers will find out how to pitch to Ross. I will still like them both even when they come down to earth as I don't expect them to fall through the basement. They are what they are. Guys do not suddenly turn into dragon slayers when they put on those red socks.

 

We should just be happy that they are putting up these numbers when we need them most. They are doing more than should have been expected right when the Sox have needed it most. What's not to like.
