I don't care that they are turning it around. YOUK AND SALTY SUCK

He may have massive potential' date=' if you say so, but he isn't near as good as Youk is right now. It's not even close. He hit .218 in a 100 games and .234 in a 123 games. I understand he's young, but Youk never hit that low, and I'm not expecting him to anytime soon. Youk is better in every category and[b'] I don't expect that to change this season or next.[/b] If hitting .230 is what Seattle needs to win then they're all shored up I guess.

Exactly the problem. Why would a rebuilding franchise trade for an expensive player which they would only control for two seasons, who is fairly expensive, and for whom they have cheap in-house replacements with very high long-term potential? It doesn't make any sense.

I'm sorry, but Youk to Seattle is a pipe dream.

I have a hard time thinkin' you could trade Youk anywhere at the moment and make it work. Don't see anybody with enough interest to get us anything in return even if packaged with somebody. We would probably end up paying a chunk of his salary no matter what we did.

If Scott Rolen goes down while Cincinnati is contending, I could see the Reds swinging a deal for Youkilis. Rolen is in his last year and the Reds seem serious about making the playoffs through the weak NL Central or through a wild card. I just don't think Youkilis brings back much unless he starts hitting like he did a couple of years ago...and then the Sox should hold onto him.

I know it's a pipe dream, because it came from my living room, and not Landsdowne Street. I don't hate Youk, but I'm not emotionally attached to him either. If he can be traded for something of value and Middlebrooks is ready then ship him out.

How about the Dodgers? They'd have to be interested in a talented corner IF, or at least you'd think so. They're trying to recover credibility at the moment, they're in the playoff hunt, they have some really awesome relief arms we could use, and neither Loney nor Uribe should be keeping Youk out of their lineup -- he represents a clear upgrade over either one. They would benefit immensely on multiple fronts from bringing a player like Youk to LA.

If there was any way you could bring Kenley Jansen to Boston, all avenues should be explored. That cat is just flat out unhittable.

For us to get kenley jansen we would have to give up youk salty and a minor prospect. Not ready for that

Try it the sane way: Bundle Youk off a good late inning reliever and keep Doubront.

I would never trade an every day player and middle of the lineup hitter for a reliever. That is not sane.

How about this dream trade

Marlins get:

Doubront

Youk

IGGY

Red Sox

Hanley Ramirez

Josh Johnson

Obviously this is an unrealistic rape of a trade, but wouldn't it be wonderful?

If I'm the Marlins I wouldn't accept this package for even one of those players. What I'm really worried about is salty, I see no reason to believe he'll ever be a plus hitter, his defense is weak and I don't trust him calling pitches. Youk is one of the core guys, I'd let him stay until the end of the year at least.
