Have you umpire a youth game before and how did it go?

Would you umpire a youth game at all to see how it is being an umpire?

I umpire youth softball and baseball I added softball last year (a lot of fun no joke girls play much better than guys... in my mind they swing the bats they don't f around.

I've umpired little league baseball games and both guys and girls hard-pitch softball.

I like it to an extent, but some players can be really annoying. Also, foul tips.

What's the usual foul tip for an umpire nowadays? 20 percent?

I remember calling balls and strikes on a softball game where every one of the home team's players would make signs of disgust every time they got a strike called on them. It could be right down broadway and they'd still groan.

About the foul tips, have you ever taken a hard one right off the knee? Those hurt like a bitch no matter what type of gear you're wearing.

I used to ump youth games - got paid like 15$/game. Was good times.

House-League, 9-11 years of age.

Would have been better if they had 2 umps per game (1 behind home plate, another in the mid-infield). They only had 1 ump behind home plate.

I think I quit after almost getting into a fight with one kids mouthy father.

All that is very normal, as for foul ball foul tip goes into catchers mitt anyways, the worst area i got foul ball was shoulders i have no shoulder padden. you go to understand where they look at a strike zone compare to behind the plate huge difference.

The only time you ever have an umpire with two would be if town willing to pay that much many times don't have the money. The money now is about 35-45 a game.
