i'm on at 16/1 again as prince to a harder ball park, pujols to face harder pitching in tough div for hitting

jose always a danger but was reading a projection for gonzo that says he'll hit more HR's this year and happy to take the 16's

could have done it last year but had poor april for HR's then started banging them in, more used to the AL pitching too

Posted
but he already hit 3 in 3 games against us...

i know:D

i put a line through him before season got under way, still dont see a detroit player topping the majors although cabrera topped am lge in 2008 but with only 37

winner will come from ALE becasue of the ballparks in my opinion

you think gonzo can knock in 40+?

Posted
i hope he does, he definitely has the swing. and like you said he knows ALE better now than last year.. hoping he gets 40HRs but Miggy will beat him by 4

credit to miggy if he hits 40+ playing 81 games in that ground

In the American League? Joey Bats. Has he not led the entire league the last two seasons? 30+ home runs at the All Star Break in 2011. Give me a break.

Doesn't mean it will happen again this year.

While we're on the subject, how in the world is Bautista still playing without consequence? To go from averaging 12.33 home runs over his first 6 years to averaging 48.5 over the past 2 seasons is absolutely absurd. Yes, that's 4 times as many per year. Kudos to his "doctor".

Because he hasn't been caught cheating? Should he be punished without proof? What about "innocent until proven guilty" and all that...

I bet you wouldn't be singing the same tune if Ellsbury's 2011 was the topic of conversation.

The league has not exactly covered itself in glory with regard to the whole testing regimen. I hate it when the talking heads of radio, especially the worst of the WEEI lot categorically talk about a guy being guilty. Like it or not, the league is going to have to clean up its act with regard to testing and then hope they can make some headway with the union. The union for its part would love to use the recent debacle and drive it right down baseball's throat in an effort to get all tested removed.

Unfortunately, I don't think baseball will ever get to do anything more than random testing although once somebody gets caught some sort of regular testing should occur I think.

One thing that might be worth mentioning....it does not appear to me that Bautista has ballooned up. He does not look like some kind of test tube linebacker. If somebody thinks he does look appreciably bigger than he was then I would accept an opinion as being more knowledgable than my own.

He'll lead the Sox, but I reckon (like many others) Miggy will hit the most. 16/1 is good money though, can see why you've taken it

The testing is not transparent. That's one problem. The other is the technology is always ahead of the testing. Chances are, players are enhancing their performance these days with things other than steroids. HGH, for example. Those magical stem cell treatments Colon, ARod and Kobe Bryant have gotten. There's always a way when there's big money involved.

The other thing that's disturbing is the biggest name abusers--Bonds, Clemens and now Braun--have all gotten off on questionable technicalities.

where has his power gone?

still hitting for average and knocking in plenty of doubles

where have to HR's gone? opposite field power? too many hitting the monster

my bet on him to lead majors-obviously the betting slip is now in the bin, but also have gonzo in a match/spread bet with a mate who has taken mark texiera

Dunn where his power went but when I was watching him take batting practice at Philly he hit a few upper deck and the swing didn't look even that good. He looks to still have power. When I saw him up close and striking out he just doesn't look comfortable and it seems like he is beating himself up about it. On another note he did play some good right field

Are you talking about Adam Dunn or Adrian Gonzalez? I'm guessing Gonzalez but am confused by your mention of Dunn.

Mistype of "dunno?"

Ah! I was wondering. Adam Dunn's power disappeared last year, and as I started reading the post, I assumed that was his point.
