Funny what winning will do eh?

As I said, this team is showing WAY more fight than they did at the end of last year. They came back in two of the games in Detroit and then in this win tonite. Last year once we got behind in September it seemed we could never come back and win.

Same thing last April too. Give up a lead, game over. Need to have our offense give the pitching some early leads now.

Did they say that on the NESN broadcast and explain why? (I figured/hoped they would)...I had to watch the Toronto broadcast of the game

Pedroia told the announcers before the game he was "going to the moon", and to announce "La Luna" if he were to hit a home run.

On the live call they called it a homer, they went back and replayed the homer and the NESN announcers (Orsillo) yelled "far, deep.....LA LUNA!"

It was pretty funny.

Nice, yeah I figured that they would say LA LUNA for his first HR ever since he told them to when they strapped the headset on him and spoke with him in the dugout a few days ago (I think was still in ST that happened)

NICE though, that rules - I need to catch the video of them doing it for him per his request

Games like this right here, where your bullpen comes through and the offense rewards them with a 9th inning rally - these are the games where teams are formed. A lot of times there is a disconnect between the pitchers and the hitters. When they can come together and actually be a team instead of Pitchers and Hitters. Hopefully they can start winning some blow outs.

Agree. Sweeney of all players in the midst of it. They are showing way more fight in the first 4 games than they did all last year

Remy mentioned it... Orsillo didn't say it.

Ryan Sweeney is clutch.. but Scott Atchison won us the game. Some solid work out of the pen to shut down Toronto's lineup after a short start by Doubront.

Why does he want to put chocolate bunnies up Melancon's ass?????

Don't know, it must be somehow related to the uberfart Lucic uses to kill the bullpen at Fenway.

Just so everybody knows, that was NOT me. He spoke the words I would have spoken yesterday but glad someone else did it instead. Good win tonight, but we need to win this series and Bard will be in the crosshairs tomorrow. He needs to prove that he belongs in the rotation to those of us who have some doubts whether he should be there or not. It would also be nice for our team to put some numbers on the scoreboard and for Youkilis to wake up and make a contribution.

Atchison? Great job tonight as Padilla did yesterday, but I have some doubts if Atch can keep doing that during the year. Would be great if he could. I do think Padilla might turn out to be a nice surprise and we need some nice surprises this season.

I don't know how Atchison is doin' it. Maybe the opposing hitters look at him and can't believe that old man is going to throw well enough to pound them out but he is doin' it. Tonight he even had a decent FB and was close to unhittable at least for the Jays.

So now Morales, Padilla and Atchison has given them decent enough performances to stay I think. Melancon can't continue to pitch this badly. As I wrote earlier he is throwing lollypops up there. It would not surprise me to see them send him down for a couple of weeks just so that he can throw someplace until he stops throwing lollypops. Maybe give him one more shot here to throw and if he still throws lollypops I would send him down to let him work this out.

He isn't leaving anything over the plate. All of his pitches seem to be on the corners. Thats what I saw anyway.

Ya' but location seems to be his calling card anyway. What does seem different is that on occasion he has enough of a fastball that combined with the other pitches in his arsenal really makes him tough to deal with. Like tonight....while he does not have great velocity he was able to muster enough velocity that his fastball was on the hitters sooner than they expected. Other times, his fastball is not that effective but when it is, he is obviously very frustrating for the hitters.
