exactly......im on par with this' date=' but honestly you have to agree that as of RIGHT now it was a bad decision to let him walk, until he proves otherwise ( either way ) ......and even if he does get injured in philly, doesnt mean he would of got hurt in boston, they may use him to much, etc....i just think, if anyone deserved to get paid...out of drew, lackey, crawford, jneks??, dont you think papelbon should of "gotten his" ? you cant penalize pap because other deals you made didnt work out..[/quote']

"Right now" is one week into the first year of a 4 year contract. If the risk was only one week, we wouldn't be having this discussion.

Let it play out.

I recall a lot of people saying letting Bay and V-Mart go were mistakes. A couple of years down the road it doesn't look like it. I always liked Beltre myself and was sorry to see him go.

regardless.....the bottom of the ninth inning will never be the same in fenway, maybe thats why im so passionate about it and ramble a little......anyone thats been at fenway with pap coming out to "shipping up to boston" and a 3-2 lead, knows what i mean

So it's an atmosphere thing? Like Foulke and "Mother" or Sweet Caroline?

I was fine with Beltre/Youk vs. Youk/A-Gonz. You lose some offense for sure but gain on defense. I would have loved to see Matt Holliday at Fenway. He would have been a much better fit that Crawford as the team currently stands.

i think we can all agree that the reason tickets to a sox game are so hard to come by because it is an atmosphere thing ( for alot of people ) i lived in ohio for a few yrs and have a few friends that have made trips to fenway "for the experience" the energy in the park when paps music came on was part of that experience for alot of people.....im just saying for me, personally, it wont be the same the next time im at a game in the 9th and someone else comes out of the bullpen............ and sweet caroline, well........thats about important as the national anthem at fenway lol

Frankly I would like to see "Sweet Caroline" head outta' town. I liked it much better at Fenway when we had traditional baseball music throughout. It was one of the parks around the league where that all felt right and at least for me all this other junk feels wrong.

and..... I have never liked intro music for pitchers or players anywhere for anybody other than a guy maybe playin' an organ. Again Fenway was one of those parts where that felt right to me.

I actually go to Sox games to see the Red Sox. I could care less about the atmosphere. I've had just as much fun seeing them in Oakland and LA as I've had in Fenway.

For 6 years, my only option was to drive 2 hours each way to see them at the Trop. As horrible as that place was to watch a game, I went to at least 3 games a year, with that god-awful drive, and loved every minute of it.

I'm so sorry.

I fear the day my wife considers moving to Port St Lousy to be closer to her mom.

dont get me wrong, i live and breathe the red sox, but i also love fenway park and everything it has to offer.....but in boston, there are alot of people that go just for the park, and could prob care less about the ball game....i have been to quite a few reds gms, Guardians etc....and the "atmosphere" just cant be compared to fenway, but when its game time i focus on the game.......this is coming from a guy that sat in the "dawg pound" wearing all my pats gear when we lost to cleveland last yr and also in the bengals endzone the yr we beat them by 30.....( point being, might be hard to focus on the gm with everything going on around you, but i've had adequate training lol )

side note browns fans are horrible....very rude and we were losing!!! cincy fans were throwing marshmallows??? who brings marshmallows to a football gm in october?

Wow, the Cincy fans would likely take a lotta' flak playin' Philly if they were throwin' marshmallows. They might have marshmallows outgoing and see flashlight batteries comein' back.

we were pretty alone at the cincy gm....few hundred pats fans? cleveland was a different story....judging by the pre-game tailgating in the parking lot....if i didnt know i was in ohio, i'd swear it was a pats home gm...thousands, 5-7,000 pats fans there

What part of Ohio did you live in? I grew up in Ohio before I moved to Florida.

A Red Sox game is a Red Sox game, but at the same time there is nothing like being around several thousand other diehard Red Sox fans. It is a great experience and a great atmosphere. As a Red Sox fan, I can say that I would prefer to watch a Sox game at Fenway than any other park. Everyone, of course, has a different opinion in that aspect.

Props to you ORS. I couldn't last a second in that damn circus.

That's cool. I am from Lima, OH and live in Fort Myers, FL now. That is cool to have another person that lived in Ohio on the forum. There are a few Red Sox fans I know from Ohio, but there are a ton more in Fort Myers due to obvious reasons.
