"Hi' date=' I'm from MN/CA/FL/Canada, you're not allowed to tear down Fenway[/b']."

My contention is that people still see it as a "magical" vacation destination like Disneyland. Once you've had season tickets/passes, the so called magic wears off.

For all the "renovations" they've done, the RF seats are still an abomination. Personally, most of the renovations feel like putting a rice rocket wing onto a Model T.

Fans deserve a better place to see a game. Funny how Dodger stadium built in the 60's, is still light years ahead of Fenway, even with all the renovations. It's not a good place to watch a game and it has nothing to do with seat size though.

That'd make sense if I was arguing that. Too bad my original argument had nothing to do with the content of Fenway.

No point discussing this with you' date=' really. Not really any point discussing anything with you. You're really the only person aside from ibot who seems to take issue with me. I'm going to make a rare exception and put you and ibot on the ignore list. You're in company with Gom and Reck, fellas. Grats.[/quote']

See you in the post quotes!

... wait, I was supposed to be bothered by this?

Two problems with that.

1: You don't, really. Otherwise there wouldn't be multiple threads in the last year, several pages of which are you and at least one other poster exchanging heavy artillery fire.

2: It's the proclamations of victory that you do after you "finish them" that gets you trolled here

Oh, and

3: Five of the last five biggest flamewars on this board have involved you. Think about that.

Just curious, which ones are they?

Exactly... Fenway used to have a great atmoshphere for every game. I went to 5 games last year and for at least 4 of them fans didn't really seem like they were into the game. When I used to go around 03-04 Fenway truly was a great atmosphere every time I went' date=' not so much anymore. It's still pretty fun to watch a game there though.[/quote']

Obviously after 04 & 07 there's a lot of pink hats. You can't expect fans to be the same. Do people know what happened in those 100 years at Fenway? The greats who played there? Don't just think about now but all that's happened. There's a reason why people outside of Boston love it so much.

Given how small this community is, I'd bet there are a couple of other common posters in all five scenarios. Dojji isn't a bad guy, he's just got an issue with being obsessive. He does it in baseball arguments, and he'll once in a while find someone to obsess over and antagonize them all over the forum. He used to obsess over Dipre until he got banned.

He's obsessing over this Lin fella, he always obsesses over some long-shot minor leaguer like Dan Nava. Watch, you'll hear calls for Nava all year long, and any time Ross makes an error it'll be time to call up Lin.

Its the way he is, I'll block him til he's ready to stop acting like a punk.

Heh. Guilty. I tend to be all or nothing with things, usually that rounds down to "nothing" but occasionally a new idea does capture my imagination.

One of the best ways to get rid of me when I'm in one of those modes is to concede I have a point. You don't have to agree with me. Just admit that my viewpoint has something to it other than rainbows and moonbeams and I'll usually quiet down. Especially when I know I do have a point and the battle lines are too well drawn for people to really admit it.

I'm talking about the in game experience. It's different than it was 8-10 years ago, it just is. I'm not saying that it will never go back to the way it was at some point, but for most games I go to during the course of the season, most people seem completely disinterested and would rather be playing with their smartphone rather than following each pitch.

No, that's totally not the point. All parks being the same sounds boring as f***. There's no matchup strategy in that. I like seeing pitchers parks where a guy can pitch no-hitters, and hitters parks wgere you can see 10 homers or more. Who wants to see a bunch of relatively similar games being played? No more Coors effect, no more green monsters, just a bunch of similar looking stadiums that are temperature controlled in every sport.

No more snow at Lambeau Field and Soldier Field.

Where it doesn't apply is that the rim height change would f*** with a players mechanics when they shoot or dunk and would be generally undesireable result for fans as well, because it f***s with rhythm. A rational comparison is with the pitchers mound. Its an absolute must to have them all the same length, or it f***s with a hitters timing.

You missed the point on this one, not me.

First of all match-up strategy should have nothing to do with park factor. It should have to do strictly with talent versus talent. Period.

Also comparing natural effects such as snow, wind or rain is an irrelevant comparison. It's not feasible to expect every city to build a dome stadium. What is feasible is to make field dimensions as close to the same as possible, as I said within reason. The two have nothing to do with each other. Why should the Red Sox get to tee away at a wall that is 310 feet away for half of their games? Or why should over the hill DH's get to go to the Yankees and hit 30 home-runs because the of the short porch in right?

It's wrong and it doesn't let true talent levels always win out, especially over the course of a 162 game season.

Even if they did allow it, there's no way fans would fill the ballpark for another team. Also, taking the Sox out of Boston would be the dumbest thing ever.

They should build a new park in Boston. Have minor league teams play throughout the summer. Schedule one series for each AL East rival to be played at Fenway every year.

On Boston Dirt Dogs after the Red Sox won the 2007 World Series, someone on that board has gotten hold of a story emenating from somewhere that because of the baseball fever engulfing Boston and surrounding environs it might be a lure to bring another team to the area. I wish I had printed that missive. You're right MVP---no other team would get the support in the Boston area. It is a Red Sox town PERIOD!!!!!!. Here's where a little history can help. Back in the late 40's the Sox were contenders and AL Champs in 1946 and started to fade a little by 1951. The next year they finished a sickening sixth and played crapola baseball all year. Williams was called back into service, and I believe Pesky was traded that year and Dom DiMaggio either quit that year or at the end of the season. Still with all that the neighbor Braves could only draw 281,000 fans ALL SEASON and left town for good the next Spring. Boston is a closed city.....Red Sox or nothing!!!!! I see that every time I come to Boston; it just jumps out at you.

The old Boston Garden had a smaller rink than other venues. I guess they tore it down because it was unfair and not because it was an eyesore of a dump.

This is off the subject 700 but I noticed both Emmz and Jacoby had "banned" next to their name and yet they are still posting. What gives with this? Are they banned or this some kind of game? I ask this because back in late 2007 some jerks from a now defunct Dodgers board came on here to give me a bad time, one of which was an old student of mine who I flunked because he was a lazy bastard. They all got banned and had that next to their names and then they disappeared. I never got that but I thought I might have been banned too, though I suspect it might have been a suspension.

I didn't come back on until this past October. Is it possible I wasn't suspended? I never saw that next to my name. Does yeszir handle this stuff or is there a board?

They were banned earlier today.

He keeps using it as a troll tactic. Apparently 22 is the new 40.

Suddenly I don't seem to be so bad, do I EMMZ? I wish you and Jacoby would cease with the personal attacks. Nothing gets accomplished. I know from recent experience.

That same is true of all live performance experiences. Live theater has to create a "zone" that will allow people to communicate with their friends on their phones during the performance. Dinner with family means the young'uns spend the entire time communicating with other than family members. Sports experiences are no different, sadly.

I'd be careful whether you are happy about it or not. Mocking or celebrating the banning of another member almost guarentees a permanent ban.

Not happy about it at all and sorry it happened. It is not celebrating, I can tell you that SCM and it is certainly not mocking either. I wish it hadn't happened. I had a good friend recently banned permanently and another friend banned for a month. I am not laughing at this at all. Sorry if you or anyone else got that impression....just the opposite.

I just read this thread and am very disappointed that this turned into a s*** storm. Two weeks is up in four days. I hope that Emily returns and that everyone acts with at least a modicum maturity.

These personal attacks are really so unnecessary.

Other than what ORS added this thread is, for the most part, useless.

Count me as one of the people who are stoked on this.

I would rather enjoy games at the current Fenway Park than in some hi-tech huge state of the art facility.

Different strokes.

I agree. Too many franchises are opting for more club boxes and luxury seating; that way the city can pick up the bill on the new stadium and the owners can pad their pockets. Good to finally see a franchise listening to the fans.

Jesus' date=' am I the only guy left that likes Fenway?[/quote']

No. I like it and a piece of my will die when they put up a crappy faux historic generic soulless sad excuse for a ballpark.

It was great when Yawkey owned it. It became a garbage heap when Harrington took over.

Henry has made it spotless again, but ticket prices are astronomical.

It just no longer meets the needs of the fans. It's a museum relic, but we will have it for about 30 more years at least.
