Quoted for truth and for a700 to see. The only thing really is the HR production which to me isn't a big deal.
I have him on ignore for a reason. Please respect that. If you want to challenge what I say, go ahead as you have done in the past, but please don't quote him for me to see.

How about Teixeira's postseason numbers for the Yanks?

27 games

.170 batting avg.

.302 slugging pct.

A real Mister Clutch!

The whole choking comment was not the point of my post. It was just residual bitterness over the collapse. The point was that AGon's contract is not that much better than Tex's and Tex didn't cost the organization's top pitcher and hitter too.

BTW: In the last series against the Rays and the Yankees in that final stretch, AGon went 0 for the Rays (12 ABs) with 1 RBI in 4 games (all losses) and 2 for 12 against the Yankees with 1 RBI. Not exactly Yaz in 1967 during a pitching dominated era.

That's the first time I've ever done it. I didn't see the sense of posting the stats when another poster has posted them. He didn't insult you or anything. You're taking it to the heart when you shouldn't.

I understand what you are saying about retyping. I get it.:D But, I really don't care about anything he has to say.

BTW: The comment about him choking was a tangential comment made when I was making an entirely different point. If UN is going to comment on the tangential stuff without addressing the main point, he should at least be right about it. If you saw the stats I posted about AGon's performance in 7 games against that Rays and Yanks at the end, he did really bad. In fact in the last 4 series of the season, he hit well only in the home series against Baltimore. In the other 11 games, he had 2 RBI total, i.e he choked.

I won't quote any post referring to you from User Name. My bad.

However, A-Gon's production throughout the season outweighs the Rays/Yankees series. You can't just call out the bad. Besides, we had the Yankees number all season basically. We just didn't come through in the last series. The Rays have beat us up since like 2008. The last 4 series were in September. The reason for the September collapse was pitching. A-God wasn't a major concern. The only thing he did wrong was talk s*** to the media.

Like i said, he wasn't exactly Yaz down the stretch. If he had a couple of key hits in some of those games, maybe we'd be hoisting a banner in April. Please don't take it as it was an it AGon's fault post. The fact is in that stretch, no one stepped up. They all failed and it wasn't just the pitchers that stunk in those last 15 games. It was a group non-effort.

If I was going to sum up how things were during the meltdown I would point to the series where we lost 2 of 3 at home to Baltimore. We won the first game, scoring 18 runs. In game 2 we had a 5-4 lead after 7 with Bard and Paps ready. Lost 7-5. In game 3 we had a 4-2 lead after 6 with Beckett on the mound and Aceves ready. Lost 6-4. Now there were a couple of vomit-worthy losses.

I remember starting with the second week of September that everyday around 5 in the afternoon I would get a sick feeling and a headache. It would last until the game was over and I went to sleep. It got worse and worse as the month went on. The only time it went away before going to bed was that last game in NY that they pulled out in extra innings. The headache went away at the sight of Scott Proctor.

From what I'm reading now, it seems Oswalt has a dilemma: he would like to play for the Rangers or the Cardinals, nearer his home--but there is no spot in the starting rotation for him in either place. And he's probably too expensive for the bullpen. The Red Sox are still in the hunt (MLB traderumors) because they are offering him the #4 spot in the starting rotation--for sure.

I would like to see Jackson come over, but it sounds like he is holding out for a multi-year contract and BC offered him a single year. Oswalt was hurt last year and I'm not sure he can preform like the old Oswalt. I would rather BC offer Jackson a multi-year deal than gamble on Oswalt.

Actually Selig has been pondering Theo's potential value for a long time now and can't decide weather the Sox should send Ells or Peddey to the Cubs to compensate for Theo! Sorry, could not help it.
