DiceK has always been a toss up. Now' date=' he's recovering from reconstructive elbow surgery and you're expecting him to be consistently good ahead of schedule? Starters typically need 18 months or so to get back to normal from TJS. And DiceK's normal isnt great to begin with. I'd leave him out of all depth discussions and if he ends up contributing, consider it a bonus[/quote']Thank you Doctor. I can't see getting more than 50 innings out of him in 2012 even if everything goes right.

Yeah, it's hard to have a contract year when you're out for nearly all of it. I guess we'll see him in late august/early september or so.

Did you not read all those posts? I clearly explain why it makes no sense to play for 2nd. We play for the division. We play for the wildcard when the Yankees/Blue Jays/Orioles/Rays clinch the division. If you're going to cry about me calling you out on nonsense then you don't belong on the internet. People are so sensitive. I could of called you a f***ing retard but instead I claim what you posted was nonsense. It was opinion. Seems like I'm not alone either.

See, winning the division really means about as much as getting a second scoop of ice cream free of charge. Sure, its great. But you wanted ice cream anyways, so a second scoop while nice, isn't necessary. All that matters is making the playoffs.

Maybe not this year but certainly next once, the second wild card is introduced winning the division will become far more important. A one game playoff or playin game by the wild card teams really makes it a crap shoot. Re this year, I think Mazz's column today further illustrates the point that the other teams in the AL aren't standing pat. There will be more viable competition for the wild card spot next year then just the Rays. There is an excellent probability that an ALE team will not be the wild card team next year.

Last year, the media went ga-ga over the Red Sox after they signed two big stars. Now they are going ga-ga over this year's big spending teams. It don't mean a thing. The Sox have about the same team this year as last year, except for Pap. And he had an unexpectedly good year last year. They seem to have replaced him adequately.

What matters is injuries. That will be the difference between all the top teams. I see those teams as Texas, LAA, NYY,Detroit and Boston. TB is on the fence for me. I think they played over their heads last year.
