Well this sucks! I guess the Sweeney acquisition makes sense now. I have faith that a platoon of McDonald and Sweeney will be okay for my team. You can't have all-stars at every position. I really like Kalish and hope that the Sox afford him the time to fully recover. I do not like the idea of him batting in spring training. Let him get healthy for Christ sakes!

Could they break camp with someone like Che-Hsuan Lin to cover the position defensively? Like they did with Adam Stern a few years back I mean?

Does Lin have the ability to hit MLB pitching? We know he is very adept defensively and can run. I don't know. I see him hitting .180-.220 in the bigs at this point in his development.

Did Stern? We're talking about a temporary fill-in and emergency depth here. Sweeney's the starting outfielder but you can't have three outfielders and I don't even slightly trust Aviles in right.

I looked at this, but it looks like Lin's offensive production is simply too low. A guy who can't get much more than 700 OPS in AAA will be eaten alive by MLB pitching. I like the thinking out of the box, and definitely appreciate that his defense can make up for some of his offensive weakness, but unless he comes to camp with the ability to rake, it probably won't be Lin.

Speaking of Kalish, what are you guys expectations for him long-term? I like Sweeney and am pretty much ok with him playing RF, but I think Kalish has some nice potential. If he can add a bit more power to his bat, then he could be a really good player in my opinion.

I'm still pissed that McDonald's name is still in the mix. How the hell anyone thinks this stiff belongs anywhere near a major league roster is beyond me.

They need to get bold for a change and put CC in RF. The guy looks like a caged animal in LF at Fenway--totally miscast out there. His speed in RF will counter his supposed weak throwing arm.

That frees them up to sign Manny to play LF again. Just kidding--I think. He has a 50 game suspension, anyways.
