Clay Buchholz was not born. Clay Buchholz was forged. Forged in the liquid rock of the world's largest active volcano, by a team of the most decorated geological scientists, baseball scouts, and military commanders (and in the case of at least one man, all three). The process took fourteen days and cost the lives of dozens of technicians and laborers.

Unfortunately, a minor flaw was introduced during his creation when the twisted, blackened skeletal remains of a minor technical assistant were molded accidentally into the diamond-tungsten spinal column, thus rendering this present-day terminator susceptible to back injuries. This flaw can never be corrected fully, as John Henry, Larry Lucchino, and Theo Epstien had each individual with knowledge of the project terminated quietly during the following winter.

However, there are unconfirmed rumors that Ben Cherington is attempting a similar procedure using the resources and cunning available to him. The reports are that so far his team of Belgian nuclear science technicians, Ethiopian computer programmers, and part-time Grand Forks, North Dakota city councilmen are close to completing a new starting pitcher composed almost entirely of salvaged Soviet Union aircraft parts, soda cans, and public-high school-grade paper towels (including cardboard tubes).

I have doubts about the story of Buchholtz being forged like the Ring the Binds them All...but I am reserving judgement.

The story about him being born in Texas is CLOSE to the truth, but here is the REAL truth about his creation:
