The Miami Marlins have agreed to a four-year deal worth $58 million with pitcher Mark Buehrle, sources told ESPN.com's Jayson Stark.

Buehrle played last season for the Chicago White Sox under new Marlins manager Ozzie Guillen.

"I'm very happy to have this kid," Guillen told ESPNChicago.com. "He's one of my favorite players. We have what we want. Now how about three more (big free agents). Hey, you shoot for the moon just in case."

Buehrle went 13-9 with a 3.59 ERA last season, his 12th with the White Sox.

"I think we're comfortable because I know what I'm going to get from him, and he knows what's going to come from us," Guillen said. "I think that helps. I talked to him a little while, what's going on, what we've got ... I don't want to say I'm a big part of that (Buehrle coming to Miami), but a little bit, because the Marlins know how much I love him, and I know how much he can help us."

The move comes on the same day sources told ESPN The Magazine's Buster Olney the Marlins had emotionally moved on from Albert Pujols, and shifted their focus to starting pitching.

Miami had offers out to both Buerhle and C.J. Wilson, sources told Olney.

ESPN's Karl Ravech reports that Wilson is set to fly to Dallas for an announcement in the next 48 hours, signaling that the finish line is close.

It may come down to whether the Angels match the Marlins with a six-year offer. If they don't, Wilson would have to decide if he wants to take fewer years to go west. Wilson is from California.

Hanley Ramirez's representative talked to the Marlins on Wednesday and asked for a restructured deal after the shortstop was asked to move to third base with the signing of Jose Reyes. The Marlins, upset with this, now are looking to trade Ramirez, the sources said.

If the Marlins can clear the payroll, they will pursue Milwaukee Brewers free-agent first baseman Prince Fielder.

"Of the top guys out there, we signed (closer Heath) Bell, we signed Buehrle and we signed Reyes," Guillen said. "That means we're showing people that they want to play for us, and for me."

The Marlins were described by as being "well down the road" in negotiations with Wilson, multiple sources told Stark.

One source said the Marlins told Pujols' camp if the team reached a deal Wednesday with one of their pitching targets, it would end their pursuit of Pujols. With Buehrle agreeing, Miami's 10-year offer to Pujols, that sources say would pay him more than $200 million and include provisions that would link Pujols to the Marlins beyond his playing career, may well be off the table.

A source told ESPN.com Buehrle had narrowed his list down to three teams Wednesday -- the Marlins, the Washington Nationals and, according to sources, the Texas Rangers.

Wilson is being actively pursued by the Marlins and Los Angeles Angels. His agent, Bob Garber, also met Tuesday with his old team, Texas. The Nationals also maintain interest but are reluctant to guarantee either Wilson or Buehrle more than three years, sources said.

This could also help them land one of the big sluggers, seeing them gearing up. Looks like the Marlins are going hard, I like it. If Hanley turned it around and JJ stays healthy, they would be legit contenders already IMO. On top of that, what if they did land Pujols? It could play a significant role in landing him, of course they'd have to put some serious cash on the table, I heard something like they offered him a 9 year deal, can't remember the salary but still, that could be a team to watch out for even if they don't get Pujols or Fielder or whatever.

They should make those jerseys and the new logo less gay though. I wouldn't be caught dead wearing that crap

well, the first big fish SP in FA just grabbed by another fish :) . 58/4 Y ? what do you think about this? looking at his numbers and considering his age, it is not a bad deal after all IMO.

Seems like the fish is more than serious about this restructure.

Buehrle is rock solid and he should improve in the NL.

I like this a lot. He's put up the same numbers pretty much every year, he almost never misses starts, and he's got a style that translates well into his later career imo.

Is the new stadium supposed to be a pitchers park? Even better then.

Agree.

I wonder whether we couldn't put or afford a deal like this. Would he be a different story pitching in the AL East.? For a #4 SP, he would have been a great fit in our team, wouldn't he?

I was hoping to get him. He would have helped hide the deficiencies in the pen.

Excellent fit with the Sox too, he'd be an excellent fit pretty much everywhere, just because he's going to put down the same numbers, obviously adjusted for league/ballpark changes, as he did for the last 10 years. The Marlins got a pretty formidable starting rotation if JJ can be 100% for a full season.

The Marlins are making WHITE HOT moves. But the new jerseys are gay as hell. Otherwise, I might think about jumping ship and becoming a fan. Our FO and new GM are so incompetent that I have just had about enough. Damn it. I'm taking my ball and going home. Damn it all to hell! Marlins are winning the WS, no need for any other teams to even THINK about it.

Seriously, congrats to the Marlins and their moves thus far.

When your team spends big, it's so fun. Those Marlins fans must be going nuts after this kind of a splash.

No doubt about it.

Somewhat like the Red Sox for the 2011 season.

Good luck to the Marlins. Hope what they are doing brings in the fan base the SO need!

4/58 isn't bad. I thought he was worth at least 3/45, so the AAV is right on.

Like others said, his pitching style will translate perfectly later on in his career. Possibly a poor mans Greg Maddux?
