I'm offended by basically nothing (and that 9/11 joke is included), and I enjoy certain sorts of 'dark humor'. But BTR has a habit of going out of his way, at every opportunity, to poke fun at Yankees or New Yorkers dying. It actually strikes me as more annoying and childish than anything.

But what I really got a kick out of was his defenses for making the joke.

I think my defense of the joke is pretty valid, and I don't think you need to rub it in, whether his defense is good or not, I think his defense was more against Reck, who thinks that jokes about tragedies is a sign of insanity. Otherwise, who cares, there were other people not New Yorkers who died on 9/11.

Beckett needs to get back to back K's here now' date=' or we're going to be down a run...[/quote']

If that's all they'll be up, I'll take that.

One run is easily made up.

Yes' date=' actually, I do. It's the whole point. It's all on the same level because people might flip out at a 9/11 joke, but people might find it just as awful to make fun of something that you would never think to be offensive.[/quote']

You don't think the odds are greater that someone might be offended by a 9/11 joke rather than a joke that appears relatively innocuous on the surface?

technically, those who died on the planes were coming out of Boston. Those in the towers were from NY, obviously

Maybe I just saw the answer to my own question. Beckett has grown to rely a good deal on the straight change as he has aged and when it is down in the zone it is a nasty pitch.....more a swing and miss pitch than a ground ball pitch though. However when that pitch is up in the zone it is flat and ridiculously easy to hit. Now that I think about it that might be why Josh has these total explosion innings now where he pitches pretty well and then has an inning where he just cannot get anybody out and the ball is flying all over the place. His fastball has lost some zip and that straight change is either feast or famine.

This touches on very little of my point. The idea that something should be considered OK because others find it OK is a bad argument. Nothing more, nothing less. And an equally bad argument is that all jokes that have a potential to offend are on the same level. Those were defenses made in response to my posts, not to Reck's.

That's not the point at all.

C'mon, BTR record isn't too bright.

He's always making comments that make you go :o

That's where I'm coming from the insanity comment.

A normal person, or should I say, a more happy person cant possibly say so many out of line comments.

What's your point?

You cant make fun of tragedies, big or small. Its just that simple.

Its kind of a sacrilage.

I bet you wouldn't like it if I were to make a joke about a dead relative of yours and just laugh my s*** off.

You just cant go there.

Who made that rule? Last I checked, we got the freedom of speech. Sorry you're such a PC supporter bro, but that's your problem, not mine or BTR's. This isn't even the first time a tragedy or death has been made fun of on this site. Diseases, tragedies, deaths, it doesn't matter, you can joke about it. If it's not said in the name of hate, then I don't see the problem with it. Get over it.

That's not the point at all.

How is it not? You said that all potentially offensive jokes are on the same level. I'm pitting the odds of someone being offended by a 9/11 related joke against the odds of someone being offended by a joke that appears to be harmless. By your logic, those jokes are equals.

9/11 jokes are never funny under any circumstances IMO. So you were about 12 when it happened 10 years ago. I was 36. Maybe you'll see things different when you are older.

I am rarely offended by anything. Even when BTR and another poster were joking that there is nothing wrong with rape. But 9/11, never.

I'm done with this topic.

NICE K JOSH!
