I honestly think Lackey has worn out his welcome big time... we all get that he's going through a ton of s*** with his wife being sick and all, but that doesn't give him carte blanche to act like a f***ing douchebag everytime someone does something or says something he doesn't like.

I wish the guy well in his personal life and would love nothing more than for him to pitch well in the playoffs, but he's got to get his s*** in control. And soon.

Not sure why he didn't wait until the off-season.....

Boston Red Sox Pitcher John Lackey Divorcing Wife Battling Cancer, Report Says

Published September 26, 2011 | TMZ

Boston Red Sox pitcher John Lackey has filed to divorce his wife, Krista, who is in the middle of battling breast cancer, TMZ reports.

Lackey filed on August 30, according to court docs in Texas, claiming "the marriage has become insupportable because of discord or conflict of personalities."

Krista and John got married in November, 2008.

Sources close to the family tell TMZ that Krista underwent a double mastectomy in March and underwent chemotherapy as recently as June.

The divorce petition says John and Krista had a prenup. It also says Lackey has "separate property" he wants to keep for himself.

Lackey filed the divorce papers using only his and Krista's initials, a tactic Tony Parker and Eva Longoria, and Sandra Bullock and Jesse James, also used in their Texas divorces.

It's unclear why Lackey, who's struggled on the field all season long, didn't wait until the off-season, which for the reeling Red Sox could start in a week or so, to start divorce proceedings.

Lackey's camp had no comment

Holy s***... that cements Lackey's status as a grade A f***tard of the highest order. What a piece of s***.

I hope he pitches well for us going forward, but aside from that, he can eat s*** and die.

I don't know why people are demonizing him for this. He stayed with her 7 months through this. I've been in three similar situations being in a situation where you wanted to end things, but they were going through hell and you simply felt obligated to stick around. And you know what, it really really sucks to be in a situation where you are miserable with that person, and you simply have the obligation to stay with them. Who knows when the discord started?

The divorce rate for couples who go through the death of a child is massive, like 70% or something like that. I think that in this situation, they both will be better off.

I've been in three similar situations, where I was dating someone who was going through the anniversary of the death of her mother, one who recently had two family members die, and one whose whole life was thrown apart. And you know what, it really really sucks to be in a situation where you are miserable with that person, and you simply have the obligation to stay with them. Who knows when the discord started?

A death of a child and both sides blaming each other is one thing. Divorcing your wife in the midst of breast cancer is completely different IMO.

That said, there's two sides to every story and maybe she decided she wanted out, not the other way around. But given the way Lackey has pitched and acted since he got here, he's not likely to get any sympathy.

Just to be clear, you are aware that Krista miscarried, right?

I guess I don't know what people expect Lackey to do. Be miserable and wait for her to die? If I were her, I'd rather my friends and family be there for me, not someone who didn't love me anymore.

Just as I didn't judge him for his throwing back the light beer as he was accused of doing by our former (maybe current?) resident douche , I will not judge him for this. Personal lives should never be part of the discussion. He is right that it is over the line. He acts like a douche in the clubhouse and on the field, enough said. His pitching gives us plenty to talk about and criticize.

Yes I am.

Like I said, there's two sides to the story. It could be like you said and she's the one who wants out. That's fine. What they've chosen to do is not my business. I just think it's pretty low to leave your wife or significant other at a time in which they need you the most. Little phrase called "until death do us part" seems to have lost a lot of meaning for people. Not for me. Sometimes people aren't cut out to be with each other and divorce is the best option. But when it comes on the heels of a serious illness, I lose respect for those involved. Felt the same way when that douche Tiki Barber left his wife mid-pregnancy for a 20-something intern.

In any case, I've said my piece on Lackey. I wish him well on the mound. Aside from that, I really don't care.

This is stuff for Gossip rags that houswives read on the supermarket line. It's not sports fan material. Enough of this already.

But it does explain why he was so pissed and what he was upset about after the game. That's why I posted in this thread.

I realize that. You just reported the facts behind the blow up.
