We're not far out from the wildcard but there's too many teams between us and in the division we are in I do not see the Sox being good enough to make it, or win the WC game. Fact is we don't have a #1 this year, look at the playoff teams who make it this year I'm sure they will have a bonafide ace. There isn't any option to give up - I think our rotation will remain the same even due to the value of Lester/Beckett right now. I wouldn't mind getting something for a bullpen arm (Atchison) if it's going - we will have Bailey back for next year ready to go (not even accounting for Bard) and whoever of the outfield we can deal for something (Nava? not likely...Sweeney?) That is my 2 cents anyway

Yeah that line wasn't really a response to your post. And that reminds me of how some of the new guys this year have used their speed to help the team - Aviles hustling to prevent the double play, allowing for Papi to get home and Podsednik running past 2nd base as Nava hit his 3 RBI double :thumbsup:

I go with B, closer to A than most people probably - he seems to have to deal with a regular season worth of sh*t all coming at once - injuries & unbelievably bad bullpen

Obviously the bullpen. Starting pitchers will work out, sure they will have their rough days but I have confidence as a unit they will be fine. Whether that unit includes Bard for the future I don't know. Long term I see him starting but this season alarm bells are ringing once the bullpen is called upon
