Yes I was very interested in the improvements they made during the off season. But it has come to a head here. No one knew how the dynamics of the club house would be with the addition of a few new players. Do I think we should get ride of crawford? No. Was I happy about getting Lackey? No! there was a reason LAA didn't fight to keep him. Scioscia is no idiot! A different leadership style is needed in a manager to match how the team dynamics have changed. Again' date=' Shill didn't let anyone hang their heads like they are doing now. Sometimes the difference between winning a Championship and not making the playoffs is one player. As stated earlier, what would have happened if we never got Roberts. New manager, new GM. My .02[/quote']

I totally agree with what you're saying here.

If any moves are to be made I would probably look at replacing Tito, particularly since they are stuck with so many of their players moving forward.

I want to remain optimistic about Crawford, but he looks completely incapable of managing MLB pitchers who dont happen to throw him the pitch he's looking for. He looks a lot like Ellsbury did when things weren't going well for him. Hopefully some minor tweaks will change that for him next year.

ALSO: 2 double-plays in a row for Lackey. Don't look now, but he's pitching decently.

Don't even bother' date=' just leave him.[/quote']

I stand corrected....he is actually getting some movement on that slider in the 4th and I don't even think he is trying to throw the FB for strikes in FB counts......Thank God.

Well I promised myself I was not going to watch game two... but here I am, watching. Throwing away my reasoning and thinking they may pull out a win.

I said that because he was repeating himself talking to a **** like you. You're not watching and said the Sox season is over you have no reason to be here.

Ump giving Nova some pitches he won't give to Lackey. He probably deserves it more' date=' or something.[/quote']

Or maybe you can just enjoy a baseball game with some e-friends.

It's not whether you win or lose, its how you play the game.

Lowrie almost impaled himself on his own broken bat.

I know, top of the 5th, still only 0-3. Here's my take on Crawford. AT Tampa, no one ever expected them to win. He comes here full of anticipation to win it all and then this happens. There is a difference to handling the pressure of a team where you are not expected to win to a team where you are. Someone needs to mentor him on how to act like a professional.

Go Lowrie!!!!!!!!!

People don't highlight the above point often enough. They will say it is an "excuse" but to me it just seems like a fact of life. I have watched a few full Tampa Bay games over the past few days and the difference between the atmospheres is literally obvious. There is no pressure, no expectation on the TB players. They are always the underdog, always have very little to lose.

This doesn't change the reality on a pitch-by-pitch basis, but over the course of the season I think it makes a big difference. At the very least, it can explain why TB is seemingly able to find guys who seem to play well there.

I suspect if the Sox were suddenly able to trade bullpens with TB we would be complaining about the TB bullpen within a few weeks.

Yea I would not get rid of Crawford at this point either. Contract is too big and they can't eat that one and Lackey's. Besides, I get the feeling that they left Crawford for the most part to try to work this out on his own. When a guy can't lay off of high heat that is one thing. Those are balls that are going to keep rising. But sliders that are good pitches are down and keep breaking. Crawford has not gotten that figured out all season. It might be that he defies fixing but I would at this point take the chance that he can at least be a "good" player for this team. I think great is off the table and was never even a possibility.

Now back to the task at hand. Sox got one back. Can Lackey continue from the 4th and keep that slider down and keep the fastball off the plate in fastball counts? The Sox are like a Sherlock Holmes mystery. "Watson, my lineup card please."
