I'll root for the yanks to stomp the s*** outta Tampa.. doesn't even bother me to do so.. I'd rather play New York than tampa anyway.. and don't think that Tampa can't just outright take the division.. stranger things have happened

Hell yes. I'll root for the Yankees all damn day. I would rather get into the post season and see the Yankees win a few regular season games, than to miss the post season just to watch the Yankees lose a couple games and still win the AL East.

It's not even a hard decision.

I will definitely root for the Yankees. That said, if the Sox can just kick some ass over the rest of this season we could happily root for the Rays to beat the Yankees (maybe 6 out of 7) and for the Sox to overtake the Yankees.

Assuming that doesn't happen, I will happily root for the Yankees. I imagine like everything else Yankee-related in my life, I will be disappointed.

The Yankees are winning the AL East. Put that out of your mind.

E1 is a cockeyed optimist when it comes to the Sox-- a true Diehard Sox fan and a very knowledgeable baseball fan, but sometimes he avoids the harsher realities of the game, especially when it comes to the Yankees.

I won't. If we keep winning' date=' I want the Rays to win. The division is still within reach.[/quote']No it is not. We don't have the horses right now to make that kind of run. We will be lucky if they hold on to the WC.

You either pray to the gods for the Sox to win at least 8 of their last 10 games or temporarily root for teh Yanks. Seen as how the Sox can barely win these days, I'd say the ladder is your only choice.

Yankees can blatantly lose to the Rays and put them in the playoffs.

Not that the Yankees will lose to spite the Sox because that would be low even for them but Yankees hold the keys imo.

If I were the Yankees, I would be playing to keep the Rays out of the playoffs. The playoff teams right now are the Yanks, Rangers, Tigers and Red Sox. All of those teams have one healthy ace, and then there is a bit of a dropoff. The Rays are built for the playoffs, with young healthy arms and bats that have gotten far less worn down throughout the season. I'm betting that whoever wins the wildcard gets the to the WS right now.

Then why do they have the highest road attendance in all of MLB?

This is a dumb question. Just because the Yankees draw on the road does not mean that people in those cities like them. They simply recognize that the Yankees are one of the best teams in baseball and they desire to see good baseball. Jesus.

Oh, I had a pleasant phone conversation with a financial CSR this morning. He grew up in New York (a Yankee fan) and lives in Philadelphia I told him I am rooting for the Yankees to kick the Phillie's asses in the World Series. I don't hate the Yankees. I just want my team (the Sox) to beat them.

Maybe I'm old school, but I believe that every team holds their own destiny. We win, we are in. Simple as that. I could care less about what happens with those yank/rays games. If we end up having to relying on certain teams winning/losing to get into the playoffs, we don't deserve to be their in the first place and it's our own fault. If the Sox had just taken care of business this month we wouldn't even need to have this conversation.

Red Sox, just f***ing win. Don't look to other teams for help, win your own f***ing games or have fun golfing next month. It's all in your hands.

Rooting for the yankees is like having sex with an attractive family member. You can imagine a different face on them, but you still feel dirty before, during, and after. You will also never be able to look your father in the eyes again.

Rooting against the Rays is essentially the same as rooting for the Yankees
Hoping the Yankees beat the Rays and then die in a fiery crash can hardly be called rooting for the Yankees.

If rays make the playoffs they will make it to the WS
The Rays are not that good. The Sox are just playing that bad. At the beginning of the month we were talking about winning 100 games. They will just about crack 90-- that's not good enough to get to the post season in this league.

It cause of the rays hitting,if they can pitch in the playoffs and get the clutch hits they will be good

It's the pitching, not the hitting. Even with injuries.

Right now, their pitching isn't good enough for the playoffs--maybe not good enough to limp into the playoffs.
