I will post an event everyday that happened that day. Feel free to comment about the events!

They could be about a historical game that the Red Sox won, a first home run by a legend, or even a famous red sox player's birthday. Be sure to check everyday here for a new post!

August 13 1988: Dwight Evans hits two home runs and has 7 RBI as the Red Sox beat Detroit 16-4. The game is the Sox' 24th consecutive win at home, an American League record.

August 14 1922: Lizzie Murphy plays first base for two innings in an exhibition game at Fenway Park. She's the first woman to play against a major league team.

I hope Lizzie didn't get killed.

Saw one of those girls with a uniform and a glove in a TV game the other day that's supposed to catch grounders or line drives behind 1B. That poor kid looked like she had never caught a ball in her life.

They used to give that job to Little Leaguers--kids that could catch.

A kid could get hurt out there with a line drive. The least they could do would be to get

a girl who has played ball. Plenty of them out there these days. But this kid did not look like one of them.

Look what happened to Smoak. You can get hurt out there. A friend of mine had a company picnic years ago and they had a softball game. One of the girls was pitching. A liner hit her in the face and broke her nose. She was getting married the following weekend. She had to walk down the aisle with two black eyes and a broken nose.

Yep, even a guy can make any mistake. If you think about it, a line drive is a possibility, could go Left, Right, or could hit a tiny pebble and pop right up. The pitcher has a much dangerous job! They get many hits just by them. Im surprised how many of them don't hit the pitcher.

August 15 1916: In a classic pitching duel, Babe Ruth beats Walter Johnson of the Washington Senators, 1-0, in 13 innings at Fenway Park.

Maybe she was wearing a helmet...

No, she wasn't wearing a helmut.

But it's a good point. Those kids out there on the foul lines should be wearing helmuts.

They just don't think enough about safety in sports these days.

In industry, safety is first.

Heidi should wear a helmut...

*wistful sigh* That's what a wedding day is really about...

I was at that game. I loved it that Tiant stuck it to Nolan Ryan. Ryan walked as many as he struck out in that game, or damn close to it. My only disappointment was that Yaz didn't play.

Bosox11, can you please introduce yourself, I have no idea if your a creeper or not. http://www.talksox.com/forum/introduce-yourself/

For now on, I refer you as, "anom", until you intro yourself.

I have enjoyed his posts since I have been on here...and the fact he is a Frank Malzone fan. I can still remember Curt Gowdy exclaiming, "Ohhhh, what a play by Malzone!!!"

I have been stalked online for years' date=' I like to know who is who.[/quote']

BOSOX11 has been here two years longer than you. I think that negates the possibility that he came here to stalk you. Unless, of course, the people out to get you have the ability to travel freely in both directions on the plane of linear time, in which case you have way more to worry about than being followed online.
