My mojo, it is strong. Lester is going to make those bitches go on a diet, a diet consisting of fastballs and cutters. Their averages are about to get super skinny.

Blackburn has been abysmal as of late... need to pound his ass into the ground early tomorrow. Lester is going to kick some serious ass

This is why I love baseball. It's the only time you can say that and not feel gay about it.

A sweep would be awesome. Don't disappoint

The f*** is going on with GT mojo during this streak?

As MNSC102 said, Blackburn has sucked recently. Keep that going, and finish the sweep.

My bad. BornToRun went to Sunday's game and asked me to make it. I forgot to make the gamethread on Monday and Yeszir merged BornToRuns thread with mines today. Everything is back to normal now.

That's what happens when you let umpires unionize. They can do whatever they want and get away with it.

14 walks last night between the two teams. That's f***ing laughable. I hope McClelland gets his ass fined for that. Of course he won't because the umpires union is stronger than the MLB commissioner. Complete ********.

There was a picture in the Globe yesterday of Papi taking a swing at bat. He looks like he has taken

2-3 inches off his waist vs last year. Looks a lot trimmer.

There were closer pitches than that called balls. Truly they have problems. Who's MLB's highest ranked umpire?

Completely different argument. Fans come to the game to see the players. If the MLB were to mass-fire every single umpire, and replace them with college/minor league level umpires, would anyone even notice the difference?

Just a quick update on the Red Sox splits this year -

Vs LHP - .279/.359/.450/.809. 2nd best in the MLB behind the Yankees (.822 OPS).

That's pretty freaking nasty considering the OF replacements of D-Mac and Cameron were abysmal for a while (Since 7/4, Darnell is hitting .321 with a 1.081 OPS, nice turnaround).

Vs RHP - .282/.351/.460/.811. Significantly best in the MLB, 2nd best is Texas (.782 OPS).

It's pretty amazing that, as LH heavy as this line up is, the splits are .002 points off in OPS and .003 points off in BA. And the fact that against LHP or RHP, this team OPS's over .800 is ridiculous.

FWIW, the AL Average OPS vs LHP is .728, and the AL Average OPS vs RHP is .718.

Probably doesn't hurt that Pedroia is hitting .400 against lefties. Can you imagine being a lefthanded pitcher, knowing that Pedroia has a 52% chance of getting on base against you? I would love to see what his splits are since his slump ended, because it has to be insane.

Wow, I didn't get to see the game last night so that was my first look at it. That is an unbelievably bad call. It's been a rough week for umpires during Sox games (umps were awful pretty much throughout the Yankees series too).

The one thing I'll say in McClelland's favor is that both Varitek and Francona said after the game that they thought he's one of the best in the business. Probably why we didn't see or hear a peep from them in game.

That said, even a cursory look at the pitchFX from last night will tell you his calls were f***ing atrocious. No reason for it at all.

I see what you did there, Scutaro and Aviles both at 2B. Even so, combined, they aren't as good as Pedroia.
