The fan base is part of the team. It is symbiotic' date=' so...WE![/quote']

No its not.

Show me 1 pay stub where it shows you are part of the team. Show me in the official redsox program/guide where it mentions your name.

You are a fan.

Grownup men watching the Redsox on tv eating pizza and drinking beers are not part of the team. If you think so, you need therapy. Kevin Youkilis doesn't give a s*** if you have your rally cap on.

Yeah. I'm sure members of the Red Sox would much rather go play for the Marlins who are lucky to get 8,000 people on a weekday game, which turns into low revenues, which turns into poor players, which turns into losing. But I know that's far too convoluted for you to follow. I'll put it into simple terms for you. Fans = Revenues. Revenues = Good Players. Good Players = Winning.

But no, strong, loyal fan bases that stick around through s*****, losing seasons have no bearing on a teams success. You're right. The money pumped into the system is not at all tied to the fanbase.

Say WHAT?! You're having a blowout sale on STRAW?! :o!!

Nope, not seriously, just realistically.

Considering this team doesn't exist without the fans' date=' I'll keep saying "we" as well.[/quote']

Yeah, with almost 700 straight sellouts, the fan base is huge. Check out the other good teams: Pirates fans have only come this year, Giants fans only come because they're the champs, and Yankee fans always come but boo the team every five minutes. Those are just 3 examples.

Damn true!...and you know, what? I feel part of the team, and I could bet that every fan does in some way or another... and nothing is wrong with that! :D

So let me ask you something. Without the fans, would there be a baseball team in Boston? If there was not a single fan of the Red Sox, would they have a baseball team full of professional athletes?

The Red Sox are extremely dependent on their fans to generate the revenues to field a team. Without the fans, there is no team. Are the fans employed by the Red Sox? Of course not. But does the fanbase have a direct impact on the players? Absolutely. And for that reason, it's a "we". Each fan is an investor in the Red Sox, and while the ROI is not in the form of money, it is in the form of thoroughly enjoying watching them play every night, keeping up with offseason moves, trades, etc.

And this is extended to any professional team in every professional sport; they get revenue due TV rights, advertising, merchandise, tickets, etc. and guess what? The fans are the only reason that all this happens, the only! without them this would be another amateur team...

If you put The Boston Red Sox value chain in a business case in order to measure any metric (ROI, IRR, EBIT, PAYROLL, etc.) , Every part of the case would be related with the fans' contribution, every part.

If you ask Henry and Theo, they would say that the fans are the most important PART of the team, and they are, you bet!

So... Putting that way, Kevin Youkilis and every single player should start worry if those rally caps, tickets, mlb.tv, pizzas, beers, etc. weren't consumed by the fans anymore, otherwise they wouldn't be paid, and you know what, there is not other reality, trust me!

So... I would go to therapy if you go to finance classes . (just kidding :harhar: )
