New captain

I just thought it was an interesting subject. Obviously not now, but when Varitek is long gone, who will be the captain (if there is one, I know there doesn't have to be). But just assuming that there would be one, who would it be?

That ridiculous C will retire with Varitek. There are currently 3 "captains" in baseball. Jeter, Konerko and Varitek. Only Varitek wears a C.

The captain is baseball is one of the great honors of the sport, it's not like football where every team has like 10 captains, it's not one of those sports where someone has to be a captain. That said, it's definitely Pedroia if there is a captain after Varitek.

No it's true. I think he signed a 25 year $25 contract. I think they're giving him a $0.75 bonus but I confirmation on this as well.
