(if I remember right...) Darnell McDonald was up 3 times with runners on base, and all three times he did not produce. I know Carl Crofford is injured, but c'mon!!! We need some help in left field right now. Very frustrating. We should not be losing to the Pittsburgh Pirates, regardless of injuries. They are just not that good!

Well don't look at me, I wanted Daniel Nava to replace him. THat would have been an all-around fail move.

Our best internal option is Che-Hsuan Lin. Righthanded outfielders just don't happen very often.

I couldn't believe Francona sabotage the night by having him hitting behind Youkilis. Result were exactly as expected when you half assed your lineup.

Dear Terry Francona,

You have done a truly absolutely terrible thing-- You have made a lineup move that gives legitimate merit to the Che-Hsuan Lin discussion. Oh, and the losing the game thing sucks too, but mostly the Lin thing.

Not your pal, Pal

Lin is only 22 and has only had 89 AB at the AAA level. Given, McDonald and Cameron are not the answer, but neither is Lin, at least not right now.

Reddick, in 5 AB, now has as many hits (3) vs LHP as McDonald does in 28 AB.

Cameron, in 60 AB, has 9 hits vs LHP. Drew, in 34 AB, has 7 hits.

So why the hell are we platooning these players?!? If McDonald and Cameron are going to go a combined 12 for 88 (.136), then why the hell don't we just let Drew try to get into a groove and see if he can pull out of this horrid slump. At least he and Reddick combine for 10 hits in 39 AB against LHP (.256).

That lineup last night made me absolutely sick. Unbelievable.

Have to agree .The problem is there is NO ONE on the farm ready to contribute.A trade has to be made to help out .Darnell and Cameron will not help .

Should we do a deal for Melky Cabrera? Plays all 3 OF spots' date=' switch hits, does some damage against LHP?[/quote']

I like this idea more, but would he accept a part time role?......and what would it cost assuming he would be happy with the move?

Reddick. Tito apparently doesn't notice that he's sitting a few spots down on the bench.

I am not a real big Reddick fan but i do hope he produces and may be a chip to trade .With Kalish beind the apparent everyday RF in 2012 there will be no room for Reddick .

It doesn't matter who you are a fan of. He's better than the options.

[Just a general statement on REDDICK.In earlier post i stated my displeasure for Darnell and Cameron./B]

Darnell McDonald can't produce on his wifes back. Much less with the bases loaded.

Did anybody notice yesterday that at his 4th turn AB he had at that point a .100 BA? if he hadn't hit at his 4th turn AB, he would be a under .100 BA player today. This is the kind of "hitter" that TF is putting (5th) in the lineup, just unacceptable!

You're ignoring the way this front office has historically looked at AA and AAA. Generally speaking they tend to feel that if you're ready to be promoted to AAA, unless you show something that makes them nervous, you're probably ready to be a big leaguer.

Is it really that unfathomable that a guy like Lin could come up and hit .270 with a bit of OBP (.330-.340) and no power? Because that's all that it would take to seriously upgrade our RHH outfields situation. Add in the speed factor and the defense factor and that's really not a bad bench outfielder at all.

And the fact is that the guy is 22, he's not built like a twinkie. He's got some room to fill out and add a bit of gap power. If that doesn't happen he's still a fairly tough out and can at least slap the ball over the third baseman's head. If his discipline continues strong... well, the ability to see the ball very well has a lot to do with where Youk's power seems to have come from (we hope). So a bit of gap-and-run slugging isn't infeasible.

No one is nominating Lin for next year's all star team. But a singles hitter who can walk and can work the count, and has speed, and can defend, doesn't need to do a lot else to be a useful big leaguer. That's all.

I went to Fort Myers for spring training in March. At the minor league complex, I was very impressed with Lin's work on his hitting. You could see that he was working on staying back and using his hands to drive the ball with solid contact. He was driving the ball consistenty better than any of the outfielders. I can see him developing Crawford like power.

I was not very impressed with Lin, but I didn't see a lot of him.

This was my first year but won't be my last. I've always wanted to attend and finally made it happen this year. We made the trip to Clearwater to see Lester against Halliday. We also saw the Rays at The City of Palms Park for Lackey versus Price. Also went to a Twins versus Orioles game. When were you there?

Lin didn't play in any of those games but I did witness him at the minor league complex working on his hitting. Believe it or not, when the outfielders took batting practice, he was the only one consistently driving the ball with authority. I was impressed.

I was at the Lackey game. That was a night game at City of Palms... right? I was there from the 5th to the 11th this year.

Tito surely is not looking at this, but if he does, wtf?
