On one hand' date=' he works with what he's given. His only other options were Drew and Reddick in the outfield. If it were me, I would probably have started McDonald and[b'] Cameron[/b] too, in hopes that the top half of the lineup would score enough and Lester would hold the weaker Pirates lineup down. Then, if needed, you have two marginally better outfielders available to PH late in the game. Honestly, the only decision he made that I disagree with is the order in which the last half of the lineup was constructed. I would have gone Scutaro-Tek-Cameron-Mcdonald instead of the other way around. But honestly, he doesn't have a lot to work with in the outfield until Crawford comes back.

What? wake up dude, this guy is .156 BA with zero discipline AB (.227 OBP and falling). JD is .228 BA a s*** BA as well but at least he has a decent .330 OBP.

He should go Reddick and Drew all day, every day, these days!, considering the available, plain and simple!

Again' date=' when you have a strong 1-5, it makes sense to hold off your better PH options just in case. If the Sox are down by one in the 8th, I don't want McDonald and Cameron to be the only PH options for the 9-spot with runners on.[/quote']

If the stronger lineup is in there to start the game there is a better chance that you won't NEED a pinch hitter. Pinch hitters get up once. If they start they get four ABs. Its was a dumb move in a long list of them for our witless manager.

It's an NL park. Unless you want Matt Albers PHing with the team only up or down by one run, or tied, you're always going to need a new bat. And I'd rather it was Drew or Reddick than Cameron or McDonald.

At least we have the top of the order coming up in the 9th. Hurdle was playing with fire pitching to Ortiz. Unfortunately, he didn't get burned.

You only need 1-3 PH. One of those is David Ortiz. Then Salty who has been hitting well. Giving 1 AB to Sutton/Cameron/Mcdonald is better than giving them 8.

So just so I understand your opinion, you would rather have Mike Cameron (.161/.514) and Darnell McDonald (.108/.364) get four ABs rather than Josh Reddick (.409/1.098) and Drew (.228/.656). It makes no sense to me, but hey, what do I know.

I cannot fathom how Scutaro strikes out LOOKING there. He freaking bailed on 3 sliders that were in the zone. How many times do you get fooled before you can read the freaking pitch. Be a f***ing professional for one time in your career.

I can see how that makes sense. But like I said, Francona doesn't have a lot to work with in the outfield. He's got Crawford, Ellsbury, and then what can be charitably described as 'a bunch of guys'. He needs another outfielder, and that's not on him, that's on the FO. I am sure they are going to do something about it by the deadline, but for the moment his options are limited, and he's taken the team from a horrid start to the second-best record in baseball with those same options. Gotta give him credit for that.

Ummm....YUP!

There is no longer any cogent reason for Mike Cameron to be penciled in to any lineup for this team. He should be released. He had his chance; it didn't work out. It happens.

His options ARE limited. He doesn't have that much to work with. But he is doing a poor job at managing what he DOES have to work with. He is accountable for this lineup tonite when there were clearly better options.
