One big difference between the Yankees and the Red Sox: the Yankees almost never lose to teams like this--they build their record up against the weak teams and stand off against the good ones. The Red Sox always seem to be at their best against the good teams, and fall asleep in the dugout with Tito against the bad ones. True that their back of the rotation starters faced the Padres with Beckett and Buchholz out, but maybe that tells you something about their back of the rotation.

Listen to me very carefully:

De-cock the hammer

Take your finger off of the trigger

and calm down.

It is a 2 game losing streak. Chill out. I repeat, CHILL OUT.

The sox do have a problem that should be rectified by the trade deadline or the playoffs. Their 1-3 are pretty strong. With DiceK out and Lackey pitching like absolute dogshit, the 4 and 5 are bad. The Yankees' problem will be enhanced in the playoffs and hidden in the regular season. The Yanks have an ace who can stand against anyone. But the guys after him have a lot of questions, but can put up above average numbers in the regular season, hence why the Yankees staff looks so good on paper. When the rotation is cut to 3 or 4 starters, the sox will be fine. When cut to 3 or 4, the yankees will be underdogs in games 2-4 due to the pitching matchup

Perhaps he needs to face Beckett and the Sox again ;)

Even right now, I would say that Andrew Miller projects to be an above average #4 starter. The only problem he ever faced was wildness, which, over his past starts he's shown that he's made big strides, mostly in his off-day routines. Regardless, until Lackey shows that he can pitch effectively at an MLB level, he has no business being on the mound. I'll take Miller - Wakefield/Weiland/Doubront as by 4-5 over Lackey any day of the week.

the problem with going out and getting a starter is that is really show weakness. granted lackey is not working out so far, but like someone said earlier, having him/miller/wakefield/even every now and then aceves is going to get us through the season and into october. our farm system is now in the form of a madman 1st baseman named A-gon! we really don't want to give up a Kalish/Reddick/Iglesias becasue we gonna have some holes to fill ourselves in the next couple of years.

Thank you good sir. Can you bring up this argument again in either the Reyes or Hanley topic?
