Yes I am familiar with our roster. Hopefully, we will have Crawford back by October. That would help the OF. Lowrie is not the answer at SS and neither is Scutaro.

Even if Crawford comes back and produces this time around, Scutaro is hitting significantly better than Drew is.

I'm not arguing that Beltran is the better player. I'm arguing that OF is the bigger hole. And a much more easily--and cheaply filled hole.

 

Scutaro has a better fielding percentage than Reyes, and UZR says that Scutaro has been the better defender this year. Scutaro also provides above league average offensive production.

 

Drew/Cameron/Mcdonald? Can you say anything positive about them?

This is why I have problems with defensive metrics. There is no way that I would take Scutaro over Reyes on either side of the ball.

Sctuaro is still hurt, and has little backup. I dunno about Reyes, but we need a true shortstop, and Scoot's a glorified utility guy.
