Hello, everyone.

I grew up in Topsfield, Massachusetts, and graduated from Masconomet Regional High School in 1971. After graduating from Salem State College, I moved to Portland, Maine, where I met my future wife. She had moved there from Arkansas, and after our first child was born, we moved to her home state. We have three grown kids and live in central Arkansas. I just retired after teaching seventh grade English for twenty-nine years.

I started following baseball in the early 1960s. My favorite players were Carl Yastrzemski, Dick Stuart, Tony Conigliaro, Rico Petrocelli, Earl Wilson, and Dick Radatz. The 1967 season probably did more to cement my love for baseball than anything. Yaz's magical year, the youngsters (Reggie Smith, George Scott, Joe Foy), and Jim Lonborg's pitching made baseball a passion in my life.

I look forward to talking baseball with fellow Red Sox fans.

Sooner or later, Fayetteville bring Red Sox fans to this board. You can Bentonville do everything I can to make you feel welcome here, just like Mr. Rogers would. Be sure to let us get to know you in the off-topic forum; you can check out the music thread and discuss a little country music or a Little Rock and roll. It's pretty rare for a New Englander to Conway down to the South, I'd like to hear more about your experience.

Conway Wampus Cats! What's up man? One of my good friends is from Conway actually.

I'm from Arkansas too, although being a New Englander I wouldn't really expect you to know where Blytheville is. I assume your wife is from Conway? Anyway, great to have you around here.

Hey, MSU! My daughter was just in Blytheville this weekend. Her boyfriend races Autocross and there was a competition there.

My wife is originally from Dewitt, Arkansas. We ended up in Conway because I attended UCA to get my Arkansas teaching certification.

Good to meet you. :D

Emmz, it is 98 degrees and very humid today. Misery is a pretty good description right now.

Haha wow, small world. I'm not one for auto-racing or anything like that, so I actually have no idea about the tournament you're talking about, but that's funny that she was just here.

My mom went to UCA too. She had a class with Scottie Pippen actually. I have several friends there.

Have you heard about the new gray/purple turf UCA just got? I haven't seen it but it sounds hideous. A guy I went to HS with is actually one of their more solid linemen on the team.

Conway is a great town. Only real drawback is that the traffic is freaking awful.

Ha ha! The turf is in place and looks pretty odd. Yes, it is purple and gray. I don't know what they were thinking when they decided to go that direction.

Do you ever make it to Dickey-Stephens for Traveler games? My wife, my son, my daughter, her boy friend, and I are regulars there in the Beer Garden for games. Great ball park.

Despite me being a huge baseball guy I actually have never been to a Travs game, believe it or not. Little Rock is close to three hours from me and I just haven't ever gotten around to it. I heard the new ballpark is pretty sweet. Also heard the old one was straight in the ghetto. I went to a Naturals game last year though when they were playing the Travs. One of my best friends lives in Springdale and he was working for the Naturals at the time.

So you like living here? Got you a favorite college team other than UCA?

I have never been a huge college football fan. I have been to only a handful of UCA Bear games and a few Razorback games. I'm making a wild guess that you like the Mississippi State Bulldogs. :D

That's a shame.

SEC college football is like nothing else in sports. Despite being a New Englander I'm a little surprised you haven't gotten into it after living down here so long.

Yes sir, I go to school at Mississippi State.

Growing up in New England, we just didn't have much football to follow. There really wasn't a major college team and the Patriots were very bad.

I do watch and root for the Razorbacks, but I don't live and die with them. The next time they play the Bulldogs, I'll have new interest in the game. :)
