Nobody is dying with the helmets nowadays. And the sox drilled out best hitter in the knee. Eye for an eye is typically how baseball is run. I have always maintained that headhunting is an effective part of the game. You dont need to hit someone in the head to headhunt. And if a team knows you are willing to go up and in' date=' the opposing pitcher might be a little more careful with their location. Bob Gibson's career definitely benefitted from his willingness to go up and in. Nobody dug in on him. Nobody. That uncomfortable feeling definitely helped elongate his career[/quote']

The game has moved on, and for good reason. What is honorable about gaining success through the threat of injury? Answer, nothing.

I never thought that someone's patience would go with time. Typically, the patience improves and the hitting skills erode. Jeter chases a ball that starts below the knees and drops even lower. Goddamn, he sucks.

There are plenty of honorable players who end up out of the game because they suck. There are plenty of dishonorable players who play for awhile because they are good. Honor has nothing to do with it. It's about gaining an edge. Half these players used performance enhancers, how is that honorable?

Because you're gaining an edge without any expense at the personal health and career of other players?? :dunno:

I leave for like half an hour and come back and read through the posts and see this Jacko s***? Teixiera was hit by accident. Anyone who intentionally throws at someone to cause an injury is a piece of s***, regardless what the other team did. It's not eye for an eye, it's not part of the game. I increasingly find it hard to believe you're a doctor. I wouldn't expect a person who's responsibility is to save lives and care for people to be such a cold bitter dick

It is an absolute joke that this team has only 2 hits off Beckett. Beckett essentially has no location tonight and we cannot capitalize. He's left more pitches over the plate in 5IP tonight than he did in his last 2 starts vs the Yanks combined. Instead, we swing through cockshots, chase bad pitches, and give away outs on the bases. A joke of a performance by our offense. CC better keep his s*** together, cause this offense is on the rag

Baseball is a sport. What does my profession have anything to do with it? The threat of physicial injury is in all sports, why should we make baseball an exception?
