Hey, every year my buddies and I go on road trips to different ballparks and this year we're doing Boston. A couple of us our Sox fans and look forward to getting bent out of shape with The Nation. We're planning to sit on the monster on the Friday night and and in the pavillion on saturday. I'm sure there's a thread on this already but I can't seem to find it, basically I was wondering where a good place to stay is (we've heard Hotel Commonwealth but at over $300 a night it's a little much for a place to crash) and also should we expect to pay $500 a piece to sit on the monster as the prices seem to be at now for the Rays series in September. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks.

There's a Holiday Inn (express?) on Beacon st in brookline which is 5 minutes by T to Fenway. That would probably be less expensive.

Thanks' date=' will look in to it. Anybody sit on the monster? What did you pay? Is it worth the ridiculous price?[/quote']

I sat on the Monster for a Sox Yankees game 5-6 years ago. Its fun to do once, but I'd rather use that money to sit in the bleachers for several playoff games than sit in the Monster once.

Over the last 2-3 years, i have gotten some very good hotel deals in Boston. Use Priceline and select the "name your own price" feature. Select the 3 1/2 to 4 star categories and select the Copely Square area. I have been getting 4 star hotels for as little as $85/night, but mostly in the $100-125 range. Those are bargain prices. I have stayed in the Sheraton and Hilton on Dalton Street, the Colonade, Boston park Plaza, Copely Marriott and the Westin. All very nice and all conveniently located within a 15-20 minute walk to Fenway.

Perfect a700hitter, that seems to be exactly what we're looking for. I'm assuming there's lots of nightlife around there, or is it better to go downtown? All we're interested in is cold beer and good times and if there happens to be a couple strip joints around all the better!

Thanks Palodios, seeing as its our first time in Boston and there's no telling when we'll be back we're going all out. Last year we went to New York (Red Sox and Pats weren't in town on the same weekend) to see Boston our tickets were $300 for club seats. It was worth it though, Lester pitched a gem and Drew smacked me a homer to win beers off my buddies.

The only strip joints that I have been to weren't that great. I don't get to go to them much as i am usually with the wife and/or kids when I visit Boston.

There are all sorts of bars and nightlife. I like Remy's on Boylston, because it has a tone of flat screen TVs and dozens of beers.

Have fun.

Thanks again, booked the Sheridan. Could only get for $140 a night, but not bad though. Now if anyone knows someone with Monster tickets they want to part with for the september 16th game that would be awesome. Would be willing to pay a good price for them.
