A couple of a pretty good solid starting rotations are coming to Fenway commencing tomorrow .

WS

Peavy 3.0

Floyd 3.69

Humbers 2.85

and then OAK who leads the majors with a 2.85 ERA combined.

Outman 2.08

Moscoso 3.27

good pitching games seems to be coming.

Let's hope Sutton sits all of these games out and the bats come alive vs the good pitching. Verlander shut us down hopefully the momentum isn't gone.

Crawford, come alive again!!

A-Gonz, hit some homeruns, I'm forgetting what that looks like...

After such a torrid start to the month in terms of HR, Gonzo has let up a little bit, but it doesn't really matter.

He's hitting .342 with a .979 OPS in May with 8 HR and 30 RBI.

If he hits that well every month, even after the slow April, he'll be at 41 HR, 165 RBI. Monster. Even if Gonzo hits 30-32 HR but drives in 140-150, I'm going to be ecstatic.

While we Oooh and Ahh about AGon (and he is a total stud) what has been overlooked has been that David Ortiz has been the best hitter on the team. He tends to get overlooked whe he is a beast at the plate, but people have been willing to dump him at the slightest sign of slippage. Many people are still willing to let him walk away after this season. I just don't understand that.

I agree, but it depends on what he wants at the end of the season. If it's reasonable then I'm all for it.

You know what is more surprising? He has only struck out 22 times all season. From David Ortiz, who struck out 145 and 134 times the last two seasons. He's actually still taking a healthy amount of pitches too, so I'm getting the feeling he is the player benefiting the most from A-gon's presence in this lineup.

Actually, the more I think about it, it makes a lot of sense. Last year, with Victor Martinez and Adrian Beltre in the middle of the lineup, this team was significantly more right-handed and Ortiz was that one big LH bat, so lefthanded pitchers pitched around him. This year, with all those LHH, he's getting a lot more pitches, and he's seriously taking advantage of it, and that probably shows why he and JD Drew hit so poorly against LHP last year.

Sign him for 2 years. Whatever. He turns 36 before next season begins but oh well... Do we have any other DHs in sight? He is doing so well now who is say he can't still be this good for the next 2 seasons. Maybe his HR production goes down a little but if he can keep driving in runs and getting on base than why not?

They picked up his option for 2011 for $12 million. If they had given him 2 years $18- 20 million for 2011-12, he'd probably been very happy and the Sox would have made a very good deal.

The problem is the lefthandedness of this lineup. Putting a big RHH in the DH spot will help balance the team out. The only reason this team has done so well against LHP is because Lowrie is crushing the ball against lefties with a 1.100+ OPS, but I'm worried that he may not last the season with a Red Sox FO that wants to get rid of him, and probably is thinking about selling high this deadline.

They weren't reluctant to trade an elite shortstop for good pieces in 2004. If they can get the right deal, they'll make it.

He was horrendous. Plus, he had given the FO very clear signals that he wanted out. Most importantly, in 2004, the team was floundering at the time of the trading deadline. Trading pieces from a first place team that is playing well, just doesn't happen.

ahh, the things I would do to see Hanley back on this team...

I also don't think that Lowrie is an attention-needy diva that had unrealistic contract views and was becoming a pain in the ass for the front office. Nor do I think he'll become a greasy mediocre BBTN analyst.

Wrong trade mate, he's talking about Nomar. Hanley wasn't traded until 2005 for Beckett and Lowell.

That's right. My bad.

But still, the things I'd do to see Hanley back on this team :D

We definitely need a very very good shortstop, one that can win a gold glove and hit 300 or very close to.

The parallels are there. A young top offensive shortstop with injury concerns, adamant about playing SS despite poor defense at the position. The pedigree of a first round draft pick. I've always been a huge fan of both players, but when this team has needs at the deadline, what better trading chip does this team have to fill it?

Im Fine with him not on this team IMO he is not a team player and i have seen him many times give up on plays ,that have cost his team wins

You don't tinker with something that is working. If this team is in first place at the trading deadline, they won't be moving any of their starting players.
