Wow, sometimes you people can be like a bunch of down syndrome kids in a special ed class arguing over the hottest retarded girl in the class. It just goes on and on and eventually everyone repeats themselves but at the end of the day nothing changes, you all still end up drooling on yourselves and spilling spaghetti-o's on yourself burning your crotch and the fact that you may have won doesn't make her any less retarded. It's like a circus full of suns.

And I'd just like to say that I'll take Crawford and his giant contract and have him hit like this(because he's not going to forever. Get it through your dense heads) than to have him go to the Yankees and perform to career norms(which would only be boosted by that glorified MiLB park they play in).

I came to this website hoping to find a thread about this. Does anyone think Crawford needs to be up in the order or fine where he is now? I personally want him higher. At least right now I think he should be in the 2 spot, or at least the 5 spot! I don't get the rationale behind hitting him 7th. Yes I know he has struggled this season but it is still Carl Crawford! He is fast and maybe batting him ahead of guys like Scutaro and Reddick would show him that the management believes in him (Kinda too strong of words there) He doesn't really get to do much when he is batting in between guys that usually end innings or when he comes up with 2 outs. Just my two cents.

I agree 100%. While Pedroia is hitting cleanup, there is absolutely no reason for Crawford to be batting five spots lower in the lineup than Scutaro, and six below Mcdonald.

I agree with this also, I'd much rather have Crawford 2nd, then Scutaro/Aviles or McDonald.

Yeah Darnell McDonald is not good. There has got to be someone on the waiver wire/even in minors that can hit better then him. He had a good weekend in KC but still.

I mean if this is the lineups that we use in the playoffs. McDonald is going to be getting all the AB's against lefties right? That is not a good guy to have. Pick up a right handed outfielder to face the lefties because I only trust McDonald to hit groundballs

Yeah I know McDonald wouldn't be batting that high, but he bats regularly against lefties and plays the outfield. Crawford still bats for sure against lefties, but Reddick usually sits, I don't know when Drew is coming back but he is a leftie too. I don't know if I am forgetting someone but I am pretty sure that McDonald would be that righty bat against a left hander.

ugh....not again.

Ive been saying all year. He will not hit higher than 6, and frankly....doesnt deserve to. This season is already a lost one for him.

We have to take what we get from him, and hopefully next year he reverts to his career norms.....while hitting 6th.

This is a bit ridiculous. I can see how you can argue that, with Youkilis and Ortiz in the lineup, Crawford shouldn't crack the top 5. But with both Youk and Ortiz out of the lineup, there's no way that Crawford shouldn't be hitting 2nd, but guys like Darnell, Scutaro, etc are hitting 2nd.

When Pedroia is at the number 2 spot, no chance in hell that he should be hitting 2nd in the order. Pedroia is better suited hitting 2nd, but if Pedroia has to fill the void for the injured Youk or whatever, then yes I would have to say Crawford is better batting 2nd. However, this thread was made when Pedroia was struggling, but still a better fit for hitting 2nd than Crawford. At the moment, Pedroia is back in business, and if this lineup were 100%, I would not want anyone but Pedroia hitting 2nd, unless Crawford can start playing up to his capabilities. (.850 OPS, lots of SBs, etc.)

As long as it is not displacing Pedroia at #2, sure....for a few games here and there. I think many people are still suggesting that Crawford hit #2 to "get him going" at the expense of Pedroia and the rest of the lineup.

Thats not going to happen, unless he goes on some ridiculous run this season will be an overall disappointment for him. I like Crawford and think he has the ability to play much better, hopefully next season we get the old Carl back.

Right, but this recent activity on this thread is relating to the lineup when it was going Scut - Darnell - Gonzo - Pedey. All anyone is saying is that when Youk is out, and Pedroia is hitting 4th, Crawford should be hitting 2nd.

By the way, I know you go L-L-L with Ells - Craw - Gonzo right now, but does that seem like it's going to hurt the team? All 3 of those guys are killing LHP right now.

I agree that Crawford is better in theory than having McDonald batting second, regardless of his handedness. Even when he sucks, he's better than McDonald and you sort of have to figure, what's to lose, maybe it will kickstart him to perform better.

Go ahead and bump him up to 2nd, he should not be hitting behind McDonald, EVER.

Despite the fact that Crawford has had a disappointing first season with the Sox, the other OF choice this past off season, Jason Werth has sucked it pretty bad too. Werth is older and got the bigger contract. I still think that Crawford was the right choice between the two. The big mistake was not going balls to the wall for Matt Holiday the prior year and passing on Lackey.
