Angels fans threw wadded dollar bills at Carl Crawford while he was on deck in the 11th inning of Thursday's game.

You stay classy, Anahiem

This happened on Thursday apparently, just saw it on yahoo today though. Pretty funny, but I don't really understand Angels' fans logic on this one.

Sure, but Damon was a Red Sox player who went to the team's biggest rival. What allegiance did CC have to L.A. ? I think this would be funny if Tampa did it, but Angels fans have no right to be angry with him.

Exactly Damon went to our teams rival.

Wasn't the Angels offer basically the same as Boston's, he just wanted to play here instead?

Either way f*** it. Enjoy being fans of a Disney team you losers. At the end of the year your teams always ends up like a parent in a Disney animated movie, f***ing dead.

Yeah, I don't know what they are mad about. He didn't take much more money to be here (I don't think) and even if he did why would he want to go to a second rate team like the Angels who have little chance at winning a title when he could take more money and come to Boston where he has a good chance at winning a championship.

To be fair, a full three-quarters of the financial transactions in California consist of tossing dollar bills at people. Granted, most times those people are women, but still, the fans are just doing what they're used to doing.

They might have just gone by the sperm tattoo on his neck and assumed that he was a cheap hooker.

you're gonna have to elaborate

It seems like in a lot of old Disney movies a character's parents would always end up dead. Or they didn't have parents. Lion King and Bambi for instance. There is an urban legend regarding this

Angels fans counted ther chickens before they hatched which is why they're so bitter about CC's deal with Boston. His game is perfectly suited for Anaheim. In the end I think he was sick of his talents going un-noticed by the world and wanted to play on a bigger stage. He's definitely not the greedy A-Rod/Teixiera/Damon type though. He signed an extremely team-friendly deal with the Rays in 2004 who were the game's worst franchise at the time.

I hope this becomes a trend of Cliff Lee/Carl Crawford types not running straight to the Bronx come free-agent time. I'm sure it was not lost on CC that he would have hit a few more homers per year playing for the Yankees....or that he'll steal fewer bases per year playing for Boston.

I've never seen a team just blantantly handicap themselves by making a poor reactionary move because they lost out on a free agent. (Angels aquiring Vernon Wells)

Can you justify this statement? The only thing holding Ellsbury back from stolen bases has been an inability to get on base. He's clearly got a green light at all times (70 SB one year ... more than Crawford). I can't imagine the same won't apply to Crawford.

I think Crawford will get more jsut by the fact he's battign 7th/8th at this point. Need to get into scoring position cause he's only got guys like Salty/Scutaro batting behind him. If Ellsbury is on base in front of Pedroia/Gonzo I'd imagine he'd have the red light on occasion.

Nothing to do with Tito or Ellsbury. Crawford OWNS the Red Sox when it comes to base-stealing. They haven't thrown him out since 2004. He's 62-4 lifetime against Boston, better than any other opponent. He was 35-1 against Varitek. The six steals against Boston in a single game a couple years back is something I don't ever expect to see a baseball player do again. He's also stolen home against Boston a couple times.

Now the Sox can breathe a little easier 18 games per year.

Throwing real dollar bills on the field? I guess it takes that type of fan to pay $10 for a beer. We've come a long way since those 75 cent bleacher seats.

Has to be one of the reasons they signed him.

I would really like to meet one Angels or Rays fan that would turn down the money Crawford was offered and stay a Ray. The Rays knew in 2009 that they would be trimming their payroll big time and that he and Pena would be gone.

What's incredible is the Rays continue to field a competitive team. In my view, the really good organizations are those which field competitive teams for low dollars. The Marlins, Pirates, Royals and Rays come to mind. It takes excellent management--field and front office.

It's interesting that 30 years ago, before salaryinflation, the Pirates and Royals were dominant teams.

Unfortunately bad MLB teams don't recycle themselves into contenders on schedule like NFL and NBA teams do. A steady stream of #1 or #2 draft picks won't do a bit of good if the front office does everything else wrong (Pirates). The Rays' best strength is managing contracts and making lopsided trades. When you look at their list of deals from the last four years it's as sweet as watching a triple play. (Not counting Pat Burrell's deal.) In this year's very strong draft they have something like 12 picks in the first two rounds. Crazy. Many won't be signed but that's the case with lot's of high draft picks.

They say the Royals have finally amassed an impressive collection of prospects but again, that won't carry a team to the playoffs. They need to also grab a few cheap vets or journeymen on rebound years like the Rays have been doing the last few years. The Red Sox could use some of that insight as well.

Angels fans, with the exception of 2009 playoffs, are tired of the sox kicking their ass every year. Its kind of a one-sided rivalry.
