Haha now tonight Crawford is batting 8th' date=' I still think he will turn his season around and sooner rather than later. He seems to be striking out less and making some decent contact sometimes usually right at someone though. If we can win like we have been (6 out of the last 7) without Crawford hitting and, for that matter most of the lineup besides pedroia and lowrie, then when we do click we should go on a tear.[/quote']

I suspect they haven't really figured out how to fit Crawford and Ellsbury in the lineup together. Tito has Ellsbury leading off tonite, Crawford 7th or 8th. This is a team that is not speed and smallball--traditionally.

They are winning because of the pitching.

Pitching has been unreal, once they really click and start to hit this team will be great.

We're no longer in last place in the division!

The Sox have won 7 of thier last 8. Awesome.

Wait they are still playing? I thought the season was canceled after the 2-10 start?

WE'RE OUT OF THE f***IN CELLAR!!!!!

We're tied for 3rd place, and we're 1/2 of a game behind Tampa (tied in the L column). Watch the f*** out boys. Like I said yesterday. This offense isn't even clicking.

Does anyone know who developed Crawford's batting stance? I wonder if his stance is critiqued as a potential cause of his inconsistency.

And...the Red Sox pitching has thrown 18 consecutive innings of scoreless baseball, all against a team that had scored 26 runs going into the Sox/Angels series.

Also, in the past 9 games, our SP have combined for 61.1 IP and allowed 6 ER, a 0.88 ERA.

So incredibly sick.

8 out their last 9. Hell yes.

Now why didn't they start the season in Anaheim? Next year they should be playing 162 games against the Angels.

No more second guessing. No more bitching and moaning. This club is back.

Crawford hitting Home Runs, Jacoby getting on base in the lead off spot and Lackey pitching gems? American League, you are officially on notice. Watch out

The Red Sox has a team Starting Pitching ERA of 3.84.

Before the Toronto series started, our Starting Pitching had an ERA of 6.95.

So, in 10 games, our SP ERA dropped by 3.11 points.

So incredibly sick.

I knew we'd get back to respectability at some point, but not this quick. Our pitching has been filthy and our hitting adequate. Now if only our hitting can get to where it was supposed to be...

Allow to me finish.

If we can get our hitting to where it was supposed to be this team is going to be deadly. Any s*** right hander that faces this team I'll feel bad for.

Would it really surprise anyone if, over the next 6 games, the Sox went 5-1 and were 15-12 on May 1st? The only game that concerns me in the least right now is Felix on Sunday, and even that game I could see us winning because of the lack of offense on the Mariners. We've got a really soft spot in our schedule over the next 6 days and we have got to exploit this opportunity to pick up even more ground. Fenway South will be overtaken this week, and hopefully this team takes Theo's back and destroys Buck and the O's.

Coming home with a record over .500 would get that crowd going.

Hes hit over .300 almost every year of his career. Why would it be critiqued?

I read somewhere that Crawford has stopped answering his cell phone half the time because all he hears is advice on his batting stance and how to get back into the swing of things. Everyone is an expert. Like you said, he's a career .300 hitter basically, he'll figure it out.

Craw will get it going, I wouldn't be surprised if he started crushing the ball in the next series against Baltimore. The Sox are steaming hot and the O's have been struggling bad, look for Crawford to break out this upcoming series.

No way, is there a link to that?

It’s reached the point where everyone is a hitting coach. David Ortiz knows the feeling with his past April struggles and he’s counseled Crawford. When Crawford reaches for his cellphone, it’s usually someone trying to offer advice on his stance.

And so Crawford decided “to shut all of that out.’’

Looks like Hughes got another set back in his rehab.

Hughes (arm) had a significant setback during Monday's bullpen session and was visiting with a physician afterward, Ben Shpigel of the NY Times reports.

Spin: We'll await the results of his examination, but this almost certainly eliminates the possibility of an early May return to action.

You post this in the "The Optimism Thread"?

Of course' date=' what's better than celebrating potential injuries?[/quote']

Really? So if Lester went down, you wouldn't be encouraged about your chances in the season?

It's hardly celebrating, but I don't see why it's a bad thing to see that the Yankees team weakened and be happy about it.

To each their own, I guess. If injuries happen to Red Sox's players, then fine, I acknowledge that it helps the Yankees. But at the same time, I certainly wouldn't want it to happen.

Well I was far from wishing injuries on the Yankees, but if they do happen, I'm not going to be upset about it. There's a difference between me hoping and praying that some of the Yankees get hurt, and reporting it as a potential benefit for the Red Sox. I'm sorry that I am optimistic about the Red Sox now that Bartolo Colon is taking the mound every 5th day in place of Phil Hughes.

I would not celebrate Lester getting hurt. I wouldn't celebrate anyone getting hurt... I didn't do it when Pedo, Youk or the other half of your 25 man roster got hurt last year. Put yourself in their shoes, someone like Hughes is pitching to make his money. He isn't gaurenteed a $10 million contract, plus the fact he probably wants to go out there and pitch. He gets to live his dream of playing in a baseball game at the highest levels and he could be seriously hurt. I'm sure you'd be upset if I posted, "Well the Yankees lost the game, but hey at least Ryan Westmoreland can't tie his shoes. Let's open some cans of beers and git r done" Could of at least said, I hope it's not serious, you don't have to pray for Hughes but jeeze...
