Nova getting absolutely hammered, during the only part of the game that he is supposed to be good.

Him pitching well in his last start could very easily turn out to be a bad thing for the Yankees. He should be in the minors, but with Millwood gone, there is no logical replacement.

Hooray for giving away outs in the third inning, especially after the pitch just threw four straight out of the zones, with an extremely fast runner on first base.

In that situation, with his speed, that's a good risk by Gardner. He's really playing his game lately. Oh, and a terrible play by Escobar.

Big homer from Grandy. BTW, I am pleased by Nova today. His fastball location has been off, and he is learning how to pitch without his best stuff. If I were Girardi, I would keep an eye on him, though. This will be the third time through the order and I would definitely have someone warming at the start of the 6th

Just like with Burnett, you're paying more attention to the result than the process. He keeps falling behind, and the Blue Jays have consistently put the ball in play with authority. He hasn't been as good as his line indicates.

Joe will never do it, but I'd love to see Robertson in to take care of the bottom of the order here. Huge spot in the game.

EDIT: But a nice job coming back from 3-0 vs Cooper.

Got very lucky against McDonald, and wasn't close against Davis. He has settled down in the last few innings, but Joe needs to go to Robertson. If he doesn't Bautista hits as the tying run.

EDIT: OK cool, thanks Joe.

How has Verlander gotten lucky?

Well Posada's ball bouncing into the stands saved him a run. Nunez's awful base running saved him a run. Hard hit balls finding fielders have saved him a run. And he has just constantly missed his spots the entire night.

Phew, avoided what would have been a bad loss. Colon was good again (although, again, all FBs) and the bullpen was finally dominant.

Not much offense, but hopefully that comes around soon, in a consistent way.
