Didnt look like a strike live. Catcher reached across the zone as well. Verlander missed his spot

And CC is starting to remind us about his early season struggles

This is one of my big gripes with MLB umps. They reward/punish pitchers for essentially style points. Hit your spot but are out of the zone? Strike. Miss your spot but are in the zone? Ball.

The strike zone is the strike zone, how the ball got there is immaterial.

It looked off the plate as well, but I do agree with you. Hitting your spot is almost more important than hitting the zone

Verlander better get his s*** together! He's on both my fantasy teams!

And i just found another perk to living in Michigan, i don't have to listen to Michael Kay. ;)

The anal rapes just didn't satisfy you?

I'm not sure they're rewarding pitchers for hitting their spots, or punishing pitchers for missing them. It's possible, but I think it's equally likely that they just get fooled by so much movement from the catcher. The pitch happens so fast, and with the catcher obstructing parts of home plate to begin with (much easier for the umpire to call pitches on the shoulder of the catcher he's looking over), it becomes extremely difficult to make those calls. It's just more evidence to let computers call the game, but that'll never happen.

What the f*** does this mean?

Austin Jackson strikes out like it's going out of style.

Oh, and the FSD announcers are unsurprisingly idiots as well.

Nice to see Tex get going early ... and A-Rod just missed that one.

But the one thing I expect from Jeter is to play smart, and he certainly wasn't on the Martin steal. When the lead runner goes, you go. No one was even bothering to cover second.

Wow shocked to see Martin steal 3rd. I remember he used to steal back in the day, nice balls out move.

CC need to get through at least 5. He's definitely off his game right now. Get that bullpen in the game for the 6th and cue Sinatra.

I'd say his PC limit is at 95.

Actually interesting fact that Kay brought up: For the first time since 1927-28, the Yankees have put the same outfield and infield (not including catcher) on the field for two Opening Days in a row. Kind of surprising that it didn't happen again before the FA era.

3-2. CC hasnt looked abysmal' date=' just a little off. Which I guess is to be expected.[/quote']

The change has gotten a bit better as the game has went on. He's one poor decision (1-2 slider to Inge) from being up 3-1. But Girardi would be smart to pull him very soon, maybe even after this inning.

EDIT: By that I mean after the 5th.
