I think I'm going to turn on the PS3 tonight and put on last years opening day game vs the Yanks, when Pedey took Chan Ho Park deep. That's about the only April game from last year that I'll watch though. I'm so pumped for some freaking baseball.

I can't wait for baseball. I want to win my family fantasy baseball league SOO bad! Finished with 3rd best record in my rookie year! I'm ready to be a sophmore sensation and not have a sophmore slump.

J.D. Drew is terrifying

By Peter Abraham, Globe Staff

FORT MYERS, Fla. — There are alligators in this part of Florida and they're everywhere. There's even a few in the pond behind Field 5 at the Player Development Complex.

NESN's Don Orsillo, a fisherman, spotted a big gator in the pond behind his rented condo a few days ago and snapped a few photos. He wondered whether they could be legally hunted. Not that he wanted to hunt them. He just wondered.

J.D. Drew, outfielder and avid outdoorsman, seemed like a good person to ask.

Turns out you need a special license to hunt alligators in Florida. "But it's easier to ask forgiveness than it is to ask permission." J.D. said with a twinkle in his eye.

According to J.D., you can hunt alligators with a bow and arrow or a gun. Or you can use his method.

Drew said he was in a boat with his son once when they hooked an alligator with a fishing lure. He had his son hold the pole and took position to try and leap on the alligator.

"I figured I could get him myself," he said. "He was about five or six feet."

"With your bare hands?" I asked.

J.D. gave me his best "no, you stupid city boy" look.

"I had a knife," he said.

But the line snapped and the gator got away. J.D. missed his chance.

So next time you read about J.D. missing a game with a bad hamstring and consider complaining, consider that this is a guy who was willing to jump out of a perfectly good boat and attack a man-sized alligator with a knife.

------------

As for me, I am not going alligator hunting, but I do have two days off. Nick Cafardo and Mike Vega will keep you informed of all the Sox news and I'll be back on Friday.

Fascinating story about the starting Right Fielder for the Boston Red Sox, one that i hope will placate (if momentarily) the bravado of the testosterone-fueled armchair G.M, managers and players that roam all over the internet, but particularly in this fine internet community!

Chap-chap!

Seriously? Ha. Fact is he is still a fragile bitch, but now he's just a crazy fragile bitch.

@Bsox I'm not sure MLB.TV will be showing spring training. I know MLB network will though. When I find out for sure I'll let you know.

I also have a question. Which spring training game would you go to? Marlins, Cardinals or Twins?

Edit:This question is for anyone to answer.

Cardinals.

I tend to think spring training is most fun to watch some young studs. Given that, the Marlins camp shouldn't be that bad.

@BSox - MLB.TV has said they are going to show over 150 ST games, and from what I've seen, most games that are shown on the MLB Network are also shown on MLB.TV. I already posted a list of the games and who is airing them, too, so hopefully that's the case.

@RSFFL - Dude. I cannot get the hitting down in MLB10 the show, but I think mlb11 I may have an edge because I played MLB2K10 on the 360 a ton, and they use the analog hitting rather than button, so hopefully that'll help. We'll get some games in, don't worry.

Depends. Mauer/Morneau, HanRam/Stanton, or Pujols/Holiday?

Clearly you should go with the HanRam/Stanton combo, since they are both black like you used to be.

Haha very funny. I was thinking of going to the Marlins.

Man' date=' you're lucky. I wish I could catch a few down there.[/quote']

I'm lucky for spring training. The Marlins don't play the Sox in the regular season. Plus like almost all the games start when I'm in school so I'm limited to games. I'd love to watch them spank the Yankees but I have school that day. Then again I'd probably run on the field and kick arod in the nuts and do whatever else I can until fat security guards chase me and catch me(which will take a while I'm quick on my feet).

Morneau is still nursing his head, isn't he? Pujols/Holliday sounds better to me, because you never know when Pujols will be wearing a different uniform.

Oh and ForSyth when you play MLB 10 you swing at everything don't you? Everything looks like a strike to you even when it's obvious right?

My name is Forsyth. Not ForSyth. And I've gotten better, but fastballs up and offspeed low kills me. It's very difficult to read the pitch and still have time to react.

Don't take it personally, he calls me V.A.

MLB Network's 30 clubs in 30 days has the Red Sox covered on 3/21 at 7 pm EST. They also play a ST game @PHI at 1:05 on ESPN that day, so there will be plenty of baseball to watch that day

For all of us non-NESN people who have to subscribe to MLB.TV to watch the games, they've finally come out with their Spring Training schedule - http://mlb.mlb.com/mlb/official_info/broadcasts/spring_mlbtv.jsp

As for the Red Sox - you can watch the following games for them -

3/4 NYY 7:05 PM

3/5 FLA 1:05 PM**

3/6 NYM 1:05 PM

3/9 BAL 7:05 PM

3/10 TB 1:05 PM

3/12 FLA 1:05 PM

3/13 PIT 1:05 PM

3/14 NYY 7:05 PM

3/16 ATL 1:05 PM

3/18 TB 7:05 PM**

3/19 PIT 1:05 PM

3/20 STL 1:05 PM

3/21 PHI 1:05 PM

3/25 TOR 7:05 PM

3/26 MIN 7:05 PM

3/27 BAL 1:05 PM

3/30 HOU 7:05 PM

** denotes a split squad game for the Red Sox

I've gotta be honest - I thought MLB.TV would cover maybe 10-12 of the Sox games, but 17 games in 27 days seems like a pretty good deal! One week!!!

FORT MYERS, Fla. — Here's how the Red Sox will line up for tomorrow's college doubleheader:

VS. BOSTON COLLEGE (1:05 p.m.)

Scutaro SS

Pedroia 2B

Ortiz DH

Youkilis 3B

McDonald LF

Kalish CF

Anderson 1B

Reddick RF

Lavarnway C

VS. NORTHEASTERN (6 p.m.)

Ellsbury CF

Lowrie SS

Cameron DH

Nava LF

Exposito C

Luna 1B

Navarro 3B

Linares RF

Sutton 2B

I'm assuming Salty is going to catch on Sunday vs MIN, so he's not going to be starting. Gonzo and Drew are going to slowly get eased into the games obviously. I am just curious as to where Crawford is? If Ells, Pedey, and Youk are all playing, why not Craw?

I'm thrilled to inform you all that I will be heading over to Florida in March to attend my first Spring Training game. I will be watching the Red Sox take on the Rays in Fort Myers and also will be watching the Red Sox vs. Phillies in Clearwater @ Phillies Park. This will be my first time seeing the Red Sox in general. (In July I will be seeing them for two games in Houston but still need to make it to Fenway!) Let's just say I am beyond excited but wonder if there is any advice that you guys would like to share if you have been down to Fort Myers before? I appreciate it.
