Long story short.

First ever baseball game was a Red Sox vs Marlins game. I liked it the first time and started going to more games. I drew a lot of interest for Pierre. We both played the same position, he was black just like I was(I was young cut me some slack lol), he was fast just like I was, and a weak hitter which also applies to me. He was an exciting player to watch. In other words, I share a lot of similarities with him and have been following him since I started watching baseball. Still have my Marlins jersey of Pierre till this day.

From Buster Olney:

Gonzalez has been an All-Star caliber player for awhile, but this may well be the year where he puts up crazy, ridiculous numbers. If he finishes the year at .320/48HR/145RBI, it shouldn't be a surprise.

These numbers would actually not surprise me at all. I can see him absolutely tearing it up this year.

I also see Crawford having a 20HR/100RBI/100Runs/40SB/.300 AVG season this year, especially hitting in front of Gonzo, Youk, and Ortiz, and behind Ells and potentially Pedroia.

Are you white now? ;)

Nah that's a cool story. I knew there had to be some rational choice somewhere :D

I'm the same way with Beckett. I got to see him pitch as he was coming up through the minors and have always followed him. You can imagine my excitement when he was traded to the Red Sox. Through thick and thin, I will always have a biased favoritism toward Beckett. I even named my dog after him lol

Yeah Jenks is a big fella, probably contributed to his decline over the last couple seasons, hope he's effective this year.

Jenks was horribly unlucky last year. His BABIP was .354 according to Baseball-Reference vs his career of .289 prior to last year. His FIP was 2.59, so I think we'll see him in the 3.10-3.30 range this year.

Hard to imagine WTF happened when his 58.3%GB rate is among the best in the league.

In terms of BABIP, Beckett and Lackey along with Jenks had odd years. You'd expect bounce backs. Looking at the stats I'm a bit worried because Bard's season was apparently a little lucky.

I predict between 95-100 wins and the AL East title. In the playoffs, anything could happen. The teams will look different anyway (the Yankees will probably make a big move), so I'm not going to make a blind prediction.

I think Gonzalez will meet or even exceed expectations. Crawford will disappoint some but still put up very good numbers and be exciting to watch.

Papelbon is going to improve upon last year, and the back end of the bullpen will be very solid. The rotation will probably see a decent share of injuries again, but overall the team will be much healthier than last year. It would be hard not to.

The Red Sox will definitely be a fun team to watch this year.
