Yes, I'm aware that spring training isn't for months and there's still more FA to be signed. Just go along with it and post your prediction.

American League

AL East(Red Sox)- Now I know those who are Yankees fans think I'm picking the Sox because they're my favorite team. With the Rays falling back losing some potential players I honestly believe this race is between the Yankees and the Red Sox. Red Sox IMO are the better team.

AL Central(White Sox) - This was kind of hard for me I'm not going to lie. It can go either way with the Tigers or Twins. I think the White Sox have a good chance though.

AL West(Rangers) - Now I know they lost Lee but this is a pretty good team offensively. Only team in this division I think can give the Rangers a run for their money is the Angels. I am aware that the A's are in the division but they're not going to beat the Rangers or Angels.

Wildcard(Yankees) - If the Yankees don't win the division(lord knows I don't even want them in the playoffs) they'll win the wildcard. Pretty sure no one would argue that.

National League

NL East(Phillies) - Easy. First off they have the best rotation in baseball. Yes I said it. No way in hell the Braves, Marlins, Mets or Nationals beat the Phillies.

NL Central(Cardinals) - Yes, the Reds won the division last year but I say the Cardinals bounce back and take it. Don't see the Cubs, Astros, Brewers, or Pirates taking it.

NL West(Giants) - Giants are underrated. Perhaps they got more light after the World Series win the previous season. Only team to contend in this division is the Rockies.

NL Wildcard(Rockies) - Rockies. I think they beat the Reds for the wild card spot.

Now that I've set my predictions I'm hoping you guys do the same. If you find my predictions inaccurate then feel free to post why. Just don't take it hard on me. I'm not a baseball expert and after all it is just predictions. Anything can happen.

AL East- Red Sox- The rotation, lineup, and bullpen are all going to be tough.

AL Central- White Sox. The Twins will be pretty close, but I think adding Adam Dunn will push the White Sox over the edge.

AL West-- Oakland. I know its a long shot, but the Angels really went nowhere last season/ the offseason, and the Rangers only had 90 wins and are losing their Cy Young pitcher. Oakland had 80 wins last season and actually made some solid upgrades this offseason.

Wildcard(Yankees) - Their rotation is better than we give them credit for. And they're the reigning offensive leader.

National League

NL East(Phillies) - Duh.

NL Central(Brewers)- Greinke, and their drive to keep Fielder will push them over the edge.

NL West(Giants) - Reigning WS champions, with a rotation that would be the best in the majors in almost any other year.

NL Wildcard(Braves) - Just a hunch.

Awards

Cy Young

AL- Felix Hernandez. With Cliff Lee gone, and the wins barrier broken, I don't think he'll be touchable in Seattle.

NL- Tim Lincecum. He's popular with Cy Young votes, and for good reason. The strikeouts don't hurt either.

MVP

AL- Adrian Gonzalez. A 10% boost in offensive production in Fenway, a monster lineup, a team that is destined for the playoffs, and lots of big-name spotlight.

NL- Albert Pujols. No real reason, but he seems like a safe bet, doesn't he?

The Halos will bounce back IMO and win the AL East. Kendry Morales back with likely Beltre and a full yr of Haren makes them the favorites out west. Dont disagree on the rest in the AL though. The Yanks and Sox are interchangeable with the sox probably in the drivers seat right now.

Really? Oakland over the Yankees as is right now? Wow. Homer

You did see the side note right? I said if the manage to get a good SP at some point this season(something I almost expect really) they would be in. I picked Oakland right now because as it stand the Yankees rotation is probably not good enough to get them to the playoffs. But if Hughes continues along his progression, AJ manages a decent year and they Add a top half of the rotation SP, they will be in and dangerous team to deal with.

It's not necessarily Oakland over the Yankees.

It's probably more Oakland in the West over Yankees in the East. The AL East is solid this year, the O's got better, the Jays are still an 84-86 win team, the Rays have a fantastic rotation, and then obviously the Sox and Yanks are two of the best teams in baseball.

I would say that the Jays would win over 90 games if they played in the West.

Didn't Toronto lose Marcum and their entire bullpen? Plus' date=' no way they'll be able to reproduce those home runs totals in 2011.[/quote']

True - they lost Marcum, but they picked up Dotel (who knows how he'll do) and Rauch, so they still have potential. Plus 3 of their 5 starters are LH, so that doesn't bode well for the Sox.

84-86 wins may have been a stretch. I'll say around 80-82. Still, though, a 4 game swing is not a huge difference.

Put a slugger entering his prime into the middle of the best offense in the majors in a park that will give him a 10% boost in production, and his counting numbers go up dramatically. Votto, Fielder, Pujols are in the NL. Texeira is a yankee, so I won't name him MVP. Morneau has injury problems, Youk is coming off injury.

Or, I'll just admit I'm a homer, and get it over with haha.

I can't believe he left Miggy out the conversation haha. By the way my top 5 first baseman in the league would be like this.

1)Albert Pujols

2)Miguel Cabrera

3)Joey Votto

4)A-Gon

5)Tex

You can argue Tex and A-Gon for the 4th spot but I can't put a Yankee player in front of a Red Sox player ;)

Prince Fielder is 6th.

I disagree about the Blue Jays. I think they will be lucky to win 80 games. I could even see them being under 70. The Orioles and Red Sox improved drastically, you could see them fighting over the cellar with the Rays. However I think the Rays found some offensive stop gaps with Damon and Ramirez, and should hover around .500 if their starting pitching holds up and they plug some holes in the pen.

Here's how I have it.

AL East

Boston

NYY

Baltimore

Tampa

Toronto

AL Central

Minnesota (if they stay healthy)

Detroit

Chicago

Cleveland

KC

AL West

Texas

Oakland

LAA

Seattle

NL East

Philadelphia

Atlanta

NYM

Florida

DC

NL Central

Milwaukee

Cincinnati

Chicago

Houston

NL West

Colorado

San Francisco

San Diego

Los Angeles Dodgers

Arizona

AL: Boston over Yankees

NL: Phillies over Cardinals

World Series: Red Sox in 7

That's a lot of peoples prediction for the World Series. While the Phillies have easily the best rotation in baseball it doesn't neccessarily mean they're automatically are going to have success. I can name plenty of great rotations that failed.

Toronto has lost a ton this offseason, now they've moved Vernon Wells, which I think is a solid move for both teams. Picking up a 4/80 contract on a strong CF when the market for elite outfielders is insane (VW isn't exactly elite, but 4 years is much better than 7) and the next offseason is very thin. Toronto can't afford bad contracts of that size, but the trade happened late enough that that money won't be going anywhere significant any time soon.
Posted
Trade helps both of them out. Angels were going to pay Crawford anyway and really all they are losing is Crawford's speed. Vernon Wells will have a respectable year for them. Nowhere near worth that contract, but he will help them try to compete in a division where Oakland is looking to surpass them.

Based on how each team is constructed right now...

AL East - BOS

AL Central - MIN

AL West - TEX

AL WC - NYY

NL East - PHI

NL Central - STL

NL West - COL

NL WC - SF

World Series - PHI over BOS
