John Heyman just on WFAN said to get King Felix, Yanks would have to give up AT LEAST Hughes/Cano, Joba, Montero, AND Betances. Hint: Not happening.

Phillies bumped their offer at end to $120M guaranteed, plus vesting option

I dont know the numbers but im sure some one can pull it up but i pretty sure we have always done well against halladay as for lee not sure

Cliff Lee vs the Sox: 4.06 ERA, 1.32 WHIP, .732 OPS against.

However, these are career numbers, and he's really owned the Sox since his breakthrough season. With the lineup being so left-handed now, he'd probably own the Sox even more. Adrian Gonzales doesn't seem to care though, hitting .700 (7 for 10) with three doubles and a HR vs Lee.

Roy Halladay vs the Sox: 4.39 ERA, 1.28 WHIP, .718 OPS against.

The Sox have always hit Halladay relatively well, but we all know what the dude is capable of.

All in all, not a pair i'd be happy to compete against, but i'm pretty sure Lester (who's in their "Ace level" right now) and a healthy Beckett, Bucholz or Lackey could rise up to the occasion and give these guys a run for their money.

I was on facebook and I saw this wall post on the MLB Network page. Get a load of this.

"I am pissed. There is no Santa Claus. There is no God. There is no nothing. I sincerly hope seven dudes from New York rape and kill Cliff Lee's wife, f***ing slut. f*** you, Phillies, Rangers, and Red Sox. Kristen Lee = a f***ing bitch, whore, ****, I hope she gets f***ing Aids."

What a f***ing tool this guy is. He's acting like Cleveland fans. Lee had every right not to sign with those clowns. This ladies and gentlemen is ignorance at it's finest.

So' date=' uh, what do the Yankees do now?[/quote']

As it stands right now, the Yankees have a team that should still be one of the top 2 teams in the AL, especially with Texas losing Lee. So they dont have to panic....yet. They have until the trade deadline to figure something out. But this definitely hurts

I would assume first order of business is to call Pettitte and tell him family time is nice, but the big boys need you now. Second order of business is to secure Russell Martin since he provides NY with good D and might have an offensive breakout back to his prior levels, or might continue to be a .700OPS catcher. Who knows. But he gives the Yanks some time to either groom Montero a little more defensively or to deal him should the right deal arise. Then you have to see what is out there. I dont think any FA pitcher aside from Pavano gives us the ability that Nova does, but Pavano would be a bad idea on both ends. So for now, the Yankees need to troll their trade waters and see what is out there. NY has a minor league system flush with prospects so trades should be an option.

Ok "a700" I gave you credit for your call on page 239 of the Hot Stove thread, you can stop patting yourself on the back now. ;):)

Holy crap. Well, that's one of the joys of the hot stove season. Two teams striving to outdo each other for a player's services and he takes less money to sign with a third? Unreal.

Hey I don't stroke my ego often, every now and then I have to have some fun with it :D But no worries, consider my back patted

Back to your regular scheduled poster now:D

He did technically take the highest AAV offer.

I said last night in the other thread that 7 years was too long. At $20 mil per year, he would quit at $100 mil. At 36, his arm would be falling off, anyways, and he'd be rich.

What's interesting is that not one of those media dodos suggested that maybe he wanted to pick his team, and would take shorter years.

You have to like Lee for not taking the biggest offer.

post note: looks like Lee signed for 5/$100M, with option for 6th year.

I think he saw his success in the NL with Philly, and also Halliday's. He realized pitching alongside Halliday would make the Phillies instant favorites to play the Red Sox in the World Series.

I'm just very happy that Theo's maturation process has advanced to the point where he is thinking like me on the big issues.;)

That Red Sox lineup will hit anybody. But it will be a great matchup.

he mad?

Anyway as hilarious as it is to see the Yankees get sodomized so far this winter, I'm thinking it will be fairly short-lived. They're probably gonna bring the house for Grienke or even Garza now.

It's important to note Lee had a reverse split against LHH last season. Not sure if itstrue for his whole career.

He kills the Yankees in Yankee Stadium, and pitched well for the Phillies.

Not sure what the Red Sox have done against him. Their lineup has changed, anyways.

TB won't trade Garza in their division. Don't think they want Greinke, with his issues.

I think the Yankees are better off re-signing Pettite, if they can, and going with what they have.

You can't win every year, and you never know what will happen in a season. Look at the Red Sox last year.

Their bullpen is demolished and they lost two of their best position players. They're not close to an elite AL team. They have zero chance at the playoffs.

So I don't know why they'd let divisions get in the way of trying to get the best return package (oh I know why, becuz itz bezball, n trading in divizion is against roolz).
