Fair enough' date=' but in these close games, don't you think we should be responsible for coming up with our own schemes (and if so, what role does the coach really play)?[/quote']

I think that makes sense, but with only 2 bench spots, I don't think there is much scheming to do. For example, if we had a full NFL roster to draft, then we could come up with schemes, blitzes, packages etc, but with only 2 bench players (and very few teams used them both on defense) there really isn't much switching around other than a potential 3-4 or 4-3, and even then you'd need more than 2 bench players to make a good 3-4 AND a good 4-3.

Right, but I mean, how you're going to approach the opponent. For example, in my game-plan for this match-up, I'm doing more than just saying I'm going to blitz. Taking into account Eli's strengths and weaknesses, I think I came up with a very specific approach on defense. If I'm lucky enough to advance and face TK, my plan on defense will be significantly different, even though my personnel won't change. I understand some people not doing that in the earlier rounds, but I do think it's important for the later rounds (when the match-ups are so close), and that pretty much takes the place of whatever coach you chose.

My point is that I think, for each match-up in the later rounds, we should take on the role of the coach (which I thought was the idea), therefore making our coach obsolete.

yh213

Very close match up. I had y228 a couple spots ahead of yh but I like how he matches up here.

I don't think the talent mismatch in Manning vs Rodgers is as big as people are making it out to be in this particular match up. yh has the better oline and backs so I can see him gaining the edge in that facet of the game.

Obviously y228 has a very good defense and some star players but so does yh. A lot of their d players match up pretty well with their counterparts but give me yh secondary in a heartbeat.

Figured I'd bump this. YH and I are tied at 2-2, and with the voting set to expire tomorrow morning, we need more votes (hopefully more than just one) to settle this match-up.

I vote y228, the teams are more or less a push on Defense, however when it comes to Offense I think y228 has a slight advantage, thus giving him the victory.

Thanks for voting Divinity (and I don't just say that because you chose my team). It would be nice to get more votes though, because if the sampling is larger, the outcome is further legitimized.

I like y228 here. WR's, RB's, O-Line, D-Line are all a push. y228 has a slightly better linebacker core and YH213 has an edge in the secondary. For me the tiebreaker is Aaron Rodgers
